The first place we lived in Calgary was Kensington. I lived on 11a Street and went to St John's Elementary in Grade 2 back in 1975/6. When I go to Calgary, I still have my buddy drive us from Strathcona to go and get some Chicken on the Way.
What is the question alluding to the truth about COTW in the original post about?

I really enjoy the amateur comedy nights at the Oak Tree on Wednesdays. Can get pretty packed in there though

Was always dead there. Cold weather might be keeping people at home.

Beware - many pubs will be showing UFC and may not show the hockey game.

I don't think OJ does, normally. I know Side Street isn't showing UFC. They have a DJ starting @ 9:30

Gather your pool noodles: Slide the City announces Calgary venue
http://metronews.ca/news/calgary/130...calgary-venue/
The giant slip-and-slide will be held on 10 Street NW Aug. 1 and 2 next to Riley Park, a six per cent grade incline for the two-day long splashpad-palooza.

Winebar Kensington Is inviting the community down to have a look at their new "Pop up Patio". You are welcome to come and ask questions, or just take a peek at what they are up to!
This patio will be a exciting addition to our neighbourhood. Winebar has been a part of the community for over 6 years and, they are now looking to offer a causal outdoor patio for you to sip on some great wines and share small summer plates of food! We believe this will add atmosphere to the neighbourhood and draw more attention to the beautiful Kensington Village.

That's a pretty great location for slide the city, with Riley park right there and everything. Here's hoping for great weather those two days!
Has anyone informed Sean Chu 10 street will probably be closed for it though?

@seanchu "I have personally never seen anyone sliding down 10th street before. Therefore I have trouble understanding why we need to close the street for this. His worship at work again for the latte sippers! #car #truck #waste #fakeoutrage #pandering #unqualified"

Best patio in Kensington is the one attached to the top floor of the Kensington Gate building overlooking the river...

I've been asking for a pub on 19th St, and here it is:
The Barn Grand Opening Friday, May 1 at 7:00pm
The Barn in Calgary, Alberta
https://www.facebook.com/thebarnpublichouse
Come check out your new neighbourhood pub, before the grand opening. After a full renovation, the WHCA lounge is now open again and it is called the Barn. Featuring a cool new ambience, full sit down menu, wine and scotch lists and local draught beer. Come join us this Saturday for a sneak preview. There will be WHCA members specials, great food and drinks. Minors are welcome. 2nd floor of the community centre overlooking the arena.

That is cool. Hopefully it brings in some much needed funds to the community centre.
