Well that wasn't the worst period this season, but it was far and away from the best. No real flow, a few good chances. Both teams seem hesitant, and there's a lot of dull skates on the Flames it seems. Players all over the ice. Refs are so bored by this they seem to have forgotten they have whistles outside of the one call against the Flames that is made 100% of the time. All in all nothing much to say but let's see some real hockey next period please.

Boring first period. Flames need to come out with some energy in the second. It feels like both teams are just going through the motions of playing the game but not really doing much. Can't think of a single scoring chance on either goaltender and that's with the Hurricanes having a powerplay.

If I'm Burke evaluating these guys tonight, it's hard to wonder who's worth keeping at the moment. Pretty uninteresting period to start. Some nice pressure and some solid defense, but what a snore-fest.
I'm hoping Scoreface makes an impact tonight…in a good way of course…always have to add that caveat with Glencross.

Sounds like we won't be able to take advantage of teams with cap problems.

No mention of Baertschi.
Guess he won't be here for long.

Burke doesn't see Poirier or Klimchuk being ready next fall.

I was hoping Poirier would be ready. But he said nothing about Sven.

No mention of Giordano. Must be on the trade block.

Wow, did I just hear that right - Burke just said abby is playing well but there are no pure prospects there?
Not a big vote of confidence in Ferland, Granlund, Knight, Reinhart, Wotherspoon and a few others.
Baertschi and Jankowski also notably excluded from his talk about the prospects he likes.

Why would he list Giordano as "help on the way"?
His thoughts are pretty obvious.
Not mentioning Baertschi is a little different than not mentioning somebody like Ortio or Reinhart.
He wants to get big. Baertschi is 5'10". Gaudreau he listed, but he's 5'8", and also plays LW.
Doubt there's room for two small wingers on Burke's team.
