The album prices actually aren't bad. I've got a lot of Beatles music but might top off the collection with a couple albums. Its good that they are finally on there.

Itunes has generally replaced buying CDs for me but sometimes I they still seem like a rip off. I wanted to get Pink Floyd The Wall the other day - $24.99. You can get the physical album at HMV or even on Amazon for almost half that.

Is there any difference between the physical box set and the iTunes box set?
The one I have has books and stuff. Looks like there's PDF's in the iTunes version.

Looks like Apple has exclusivity until sometime well into 2011, too.

Cool to have the music finally available, but hardly a "huge announcement"

Apple didn't make a huge announcement, in fact it was quite a tame announcement. The press turned into something huge.

This is not true. Any drummer worth his salt will tell you Ringo was a fine musician and an innovator on his instrument. What exactly should he have done in The Beatles to make you think he was a genius? Play 2 drumsets at the same time? Have five thousand drums and cymbals in the style of idiots like Mike Portnoy and Neal Peart?

Ringo's style was perfect for the Beatles' music. I'm not going to knock more technical, fancy, or gear-focused drummers, but Ringo and his drumming complimented the style of music very well while retaining some character and uniqueness.

From a few accounts, getting the Beatles onto Itunes appeared to be a Steve Jobs highly personal project over the past few years. Thus likely the reason for the dramatic language for the teaser.

For all but the most enthusiastic Jobs' zealot, not really a day that they'll remember where they were.

Yeah, him and George Carlin were both Mr. Conductor. Locke already made the joke back in post #57 of this thread.

So this from Techcrunch, and I haven't checked the validity of this (because I trust the source) but apparently the 17 albums release today are already in the iTunes top 100 and 15 are in the top 50.

Pretty big deal.

And anybody who says The Fab Four aren't relevant today can suck it. They are - Beatles Rock Band, the digitally remastered set and today all prove it. If you don't think The Beatles are relevant then you clearly live under a rock.

Yeah I saw that, but Barnes said Thomas the Tank Engine so I was just wondering which it was exactly.

We're all fags.
