That's reserved for the absolute worst offenders and is rarely used. Dustin Paxton comes to mind:

I think the bar for being labeled as a dangerous offender is really high. I also believe that Renee Acoby is the only female dangerous offender and spends most of her time locked in solitary because she's also one of the most violent in prison offenders in the system right now.
There were two others. Lisa Neve who eventually had her dangerous offender status removed and hasn't been heard from in the news since 1999 and there was one other who committed suicide in prison.

Only 12 years for killing someone? Canadian Justice system for the loss
Per the mothers points, how cut and dry was the evidence? What other collected evidence would have proved she didnt do it?
Was there video evidence?

Apparently it's a lot less than 12 years. Saw articles saying just a little over 5 years only.
Murder for the sake of $10.

Why they keep letting her out is baffling, she's a clear danger to herself and others, and its pretty clear that the whole idea of bail and her living up to the conditions of it is a non starter.

Because the courts have less harsh sentances for people from indiginous backgrounds.

Quote:
In criminal sentencing in Canada, a court is required to take into account all reasonable alternatives to incarcerations, with particular attention to Aboriginal offenders (s. 718.2(e)). It requires the court to take into account circumstances facing Aboriginal peoples. Where the crime is relatively anything other than severe, the court should consider Aboriginal-based sentencing principles such as restorative justice.[citation needed] This incorporates community members and the victim in determining a fit sentence. However, where the crime is more serious, courts will generally find that the Aboriginal-based sentencing principles will converge with more traditional sentencing as they share similar objectives such as protection of the public and deterrence

I remember seeing her before the whole C-Train incident when she was beating the crap out of another woman on the train and we were all evacuated from the train car due to the blood and one of the women being possibly HIV positive.

Not sure I’d have an issue with that. How many serious criminal convictions does one need before a judge finally doesn’t what is prudent and or someone away for good n

^ Well, he implied it.
Okay, okay, I was being unfair and snarky. I apologize. Was not called for.
