They are doing you a favour with the straw, no one should drink those things regularly. They are worse for you than a doughnut.

it's not. With a plastic straw, I'd smash all that into a liquid.

If you're "not a housewife who makes a weekly scheduled trip" then why would you leave the reusable bags in your kitchen cupboard, precisely where you don't need them? Put 'em in your truck, ya dummy! Jesus H. Christ, this isn't rocket surgery.

You make yourself sound like the kind of guy who'd walk around with a poopy bum because he forgot to leave an extra roll of TP in the bathroom.

Pretty sure 90% of gear grinders here are things people could fix or that they technically do to themselves, that's sort of implied in the title.

If someone says "F$%, I keep biting my own tongue" do you reply back,

"Well, you do realize that biting your OWN tongue is your OWN fault? If you had a less hectic life you could eat slower and enjoy it likely stop biting your OWN tongue. You sound like you have mental problems by the way you are going on and on about biting your own tongue".

Damn, I keep grinding my own gears?
Well maybe you should just stop grinding your own gears, its your own fault if you think about it, and if it isn't its because you have not been maintaining your car up to manufactures recommendations, which again make it your own fault.

Radiohead even has a song about it.

I tried that at my local Sobeys and they wouldn't let me leave the store with the basket.

Ah, that’s why your paper straws get destroyed. Carry hard-plastic straws; I do that.

It's functioning as designed. The point of the thread is to present your grinder to a collection of peers for judgment. You either get a bunch of people agreeing and saying that sucks, or everyone calls you an idiot or an a-hole. It'd be pretty dull if no one replied. This is the way.

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/u...-a8996431.html

A woman was killed when she fell onto a metal drinking straw that pierced her eye socket and entered her brain, an inquest heard.

Elena Struthers-Gardner, 60, was carrying a mason-jar style drinking glass with a screw-top lid when she collapsed at her home in Poole, Dorset, in November last year.

The 10 inch metal straw – held in place by the lid – entered her left eye and caused a fatal brain injury.

Here's on that grinds my gears. The parkade in my building has an automatic plater reader that doesn't work a lot of the time.

A few weeks ago and the end of the day, it would not lift up, people behind me lining up, I press the intercom phone button, rings, no answer, now I cannot back out because there are 5 vehicles, now my gears are grinding, so I much more vigorously push the button, or at least I try to, I bloody miss and hit the box, plunk, screwed my finger somehow, lady comes on and lifts the gate. I look at my finger and its geeked, cannot straighten it. (run on sentence)

I figure the finger will get better so don't go to the doctor for a few weeks, I go to doctor and he said I should have had it splinted right away and that I likely permanently screwed it or else surgery. Appointment for ultrasound.

100% my own fault and before anyone has suggestions:
  • I didn't need to drive to work
I didn't need to park in the underground parkade and could have saved money
    I should have biked
    I should have taken transit
I should have made better investments so that I don't have to go to work anymore.
I should have married someone wealthy.
I shouldn't lose my temper so easily
I shouldn't get so easily flustered by cars piling up behind me
I should have called the person a C
I should have gone to the doctor sooner
I should have googled it and got a split

and part of the concept of the thread is the unwashed masses deciding if your gear grinder is legit or not, and commenting on it.

At this point in time, you'd be the dip#### to not have reusable bags in your vehicle, and if you forgot them in your vehicle then perhaps taking the stores basket out with you.
Guess you could always instead just be mad you forgot a bag and storm out of the store without buying anything.

Plus we got the bonus of you making the misogynistic comment about women/housewives doing the grocery shopping. (or was that supposed to be a joke?)

I dunno, we need more info. Does it not work for everyone occasionally, or just him? Is the plate dirty? Does it have a cover? Bike rack blocking it? Imported from Moldova?

Im pretty bad at remembering to bring bags. I don't drive to work and usually stop off at the one by my house for a few things.

However, now the stores have either some type of plastic/paper/mesh for like $0.15. so worst case, i pick one up

My problem isn't not having bags in my car, it's when I'm out walking and remember I need to get something and I don't have one that annoys me. Some kind of a 'need-a-bag, take-a-bag, leave-a-bag' setup would be ideal.

If you voted for the other party, you could’ve had that ultrasound faster. Get it together.
