CPF already 'spoiled' it for me, but I asked for that so its all good.

I feel they had another option besides whales, keeping them out of the conflict.

Watched one of the best sports movies ever that no one really talks about The Set Up. The movie is from the 40s and the story is about a boxer (Stoker) who's long past his prime, boxing against an up and coming kid. Stoker believes he's just one punch away from returning to the top, problem is no one believes him. His manager arranges with a gangster for him to lose by knockout in the 3rd round but doesn't even bother to tell Stoker about it because he believes he has no chance of winning. His wife is tired of watching him get his brain bashed it and wants him to quit for good. This film blew me away it was excellent, a very good dramatic film about the passage of time and fate about a boxer with one more chance at glory. Martin Scorsese showed the cast of The Aviator this film before shooting.

That actually would have been more clever.

Started it. Lasted 30 min or so. Seemed like a waste of time and kind of a generic out of the box sci-fi cheese-fest.

Why doesn't someone just post how they weaponized the whales in a spoiler tag or something? Why the big secrecy? I don't think WB is gonna come after you or anything and very few people actually care beyond hearing about how dumb it is.

It's spoilered to protect you. Once you see/hear it, it will haunt your soul.

That's a pretty good description of it. It gets somewhat interesting at points. I wouldn't call it bad either. If you have some time to kill, it might save you from flipping through webstreaming services looking for something to watch.

Rebel Moon seems like they just gave Snyder a blank cheque to try to make a Warhammer x Star Wars movie, but with the worst of both worlds. Nothing that wows you but also not so bad that it's unwatchable if you're bored.
I rate it a 5.5/10.

I got an email from Amazon, apparently they are going to be putting commercials in the middle of their content on Prime now. Yet another reason to buy the physical disk

It reminded me of a space version of A Bugs Life, but with Zack’s prerequisite slow motion scenes. I actually feel like he held back a bit on the slow motion, which was nice. Could have been 4 hours if they turned him loose.

I believe you can pay an extra $3/month to get rid of all commercials again.

I watched the 2009 documentary Don't you Forget About Me, which is all about the legend John Hughes and four film makers trying to talk to him. It was weird to see people from 2006 talk about how much teen movies sucked around that time, when I actually thought there were some absolute classics from the early 2000s, certainly not on the level of John Hughes but no teen films really are. I hope kids today still watch his films and enjoy them 40 years later.

2006ish is a weird middle ground though. You're 7 years past 10 Things I hate about you, two past Mean Girls. In 06 you have things like She's the Man (doing the Teen Shakespeare adaptation thing) and John Tucker Must Die.
It's right before the Teen Movie becomes YA Authoritarian Rebellon adaptations.
Off the top of my head, the closest thing in the 00s you get to a Teen John Huges like movie is probably Superbad.

I think everyone's favorite teen movies are the ones from when they were a teen, which is kind of the point.
