I have one extreme view which I think can make a huge difference next year. Move Varsho to platoon catcher with Jansen. Deal away Kirk. Sign big brand left fielder - preferably a Dominican whom Guerrero can relate to so that management can save face that they didn’t think the previous latinos were the sources of the problems on the team when they last seasons moves. This allows you to keep Varsho’s controllable contract, while also getting power where it should be in left field, while also allowing Varsho another kick at the can in a way that is familiar with him. And satisfy Vlad to make him comfortable again.

I doubt Varsho is ever going behind the plate again.

I think the one thing the new rules did expose is the value of athleticism. I didn’t think it would make much of a difference but it’s clear it shifted the game. Tha means whatever you do, guys need to be in better shape.

Don’t mind your idea for left fielder, I imagine KK is gone so you have a spot to fill anyways. Add to that if you get 100 games out of Springer you might be lucky.

What an absolute catastrophe of a series. I could only stomach watching a few innings over the last few days. They just look so listless.

I was still a believer in this team because their pitching has been so good all year, but that got exposed in this series in a massive way. It got to the point last night that I had convinced myself that the Rangers were stealing signs, or the Jays were tipping pitches, because otherwise there was no reasonable explanation for that pitching meltdown.

Yeah, they're still close to a playoff spot, but then what? Eek through a series against Minnesota and then get clobbered by the next team is the best possible outcome. That's not exactly terrible, but it doesn't mean this team is close. More importantly it seems to lack leadership and chutzpah. There's just no swagger with this team, and that's what seems to matter in those clutch games/series/moments. The resolve to win. Not sure how you can fix that.

I think within a week or so if things don't improve, Schneider and some others will be let go. To get booed in September when technically in a wildcard position, shows the uniqueness of the teams situation. Fan's can feel how poor the team has been all year and even they've had enough. With large renovations to the stadium this off-season, to attract big corporations to invest through season ticket, Rogers needs fan interest to be on their side to end the year, while also needing some playoff revenue. I would not be surprised at all if they do a change shortly. I'm also not entirely convinced Schneider is the sole one responsible at management, as Atkins should eat it too (along with the hitting coach). The team culture has gone to the dogs and those who are just hoping to make it to the playoffs "and see", I think are too positive. This team has shown nothing from the start of the season. Totally dis-likeable.

I know someone already mentioned this, but it felt like I was reading a description of the Flames. So odd how similar these two clubs are.

He's not. Everyone needs to take responsibility including the guys who decided to give him the job instead of looking for a guy who could take them to the next level.

Some people try and give upper management a pass because the team is underachieving but they're the ones who built the team who hasn't won a playoff game since they completely dismantled the 2015 team. Eventually it's not ok to just almost make it and you need to start seeing results.

Did I hear that right?

If so, superb timing.
Blake Murphy just said they've never been swept at home before in September until last night.

This has to be the most disastrous 13 games over .500 season ever.

This team just sucks to watch, even thought they win far more than they lose.

I really dislike the identity as a whole this season but oddly enough not one player on the team is totally dislikable or an easily identifiable problem child. So that then falls on management and subtle piss offs. Who knows really.

The Rangers were similarly smoked by the Astros a week ago. What happened after that? Rangers sweep the Jays and Astros lose 2 of 3 to the A's at home (with their aces on the mound).

Too soon to write the obituary.

In case you are wondering why players are wearing 21. It’s Roberto Clemente Day.

Should've been a strikeout but the leads to a double. 7 outs in this game so far and this umps strike zone is rough.

I swear 90% of his strikeouts are called strike outs. Like I've never seen a player just watch balls go down the middle of the plate so many times. A lot of times it seems like he's walking back to the bench before the call is even made lol
