Just came across this video on LiveLeak, a pilot that clearly has no idea how density altitude works and can affect the performance of his aircraft, brutal:
I love how the video description talks about the cause being an "air pocket" that pushed the aircraft back down. Yup, that makes sense. You think the first two minutes of the video showing an airplane pretty much unable to climb out of ground effect before settling back down again just may have had more to do with it than an air pocket.
Found out some more info:
Aircraft is a Stinson 108
Field elevation is 6370' ASL
Closest weather station had a high temp of 29 that day
Assume only 20 degrees and density altitude was 8500'
Go with the 29 degrees and it becomes 9500'
Can't believe I didn't hear about this until a tweet came across my screen, there is a P-51 Mustang sitting over at the WestJet hangars right now. Wish I could find out some departure info, would love to hear/see it in the sky!

I don't know why it would be here this early so it's probably not related, but a P-51Mustant and a B-17 Bomber (among other vintage planes) are going to be part of a special weekend at the Aerospace Museum on Aug 25-26

May have been asked but anyone know what the deal is on the all white 737's(no markings or numbers) kept down the south end around the flight center? I thought they were just un-painted yet but I saw one land yesterday.

Yup, most likely Enerjet. I think they are up to 3 737's now. Only had 1 for the longest time, things seems to be picking up for them again (lot of oil patch charter work).
I tried X-Plane 10 and thought it was garbage. It runs far slower than X-Plane 9 for less visual detail, the dynamically generated scenery looks ridiculously bad, and you essentially paid money to beta test the product because its clearly still under development. Left a bad taste in my mouth. I'll probably re-visit it around version 10.5.
Was it an older 737-200 with blue engine nacelles? I've seen that one coming and going from YYC lately.
I was a little ways away but I'm sure it had the bigger CFM engines, Other than all white what caught my eye was I couldn't see a registration number near the stab or fin.
I probably need my eyes checked because I'm sure that's impossible.

I still think it was probably Enerjet. Especially where you said it was parking at.

I believe those are used to test radar by nav canada.
