Most of my friends who are female are that bandwagon, wanting to join in on the celebrations type fan. It's frustrating when that happens as I've never been a fairweather fan, yet when I get excited for playoffs I get pegged for the chick who has no idea what's going on.

I’ve to disagree with the majority of the crowed here, I much prefer a girl that doesn’t know a thing about hockey and has no desire to watch games with me.
Take my last girlfriend for example, if I told her that I was going to watch the hockey game on any particular night she knew that was code for:
“Some friends and I are going to watch the game somewhere, don’t come and bother me as I will probably be getting drunk with my pals. Maybe later on I will call you and you came come and pick me up, OK love you bye”

Haha ya I can agree with that. The reason I like that my girl actually enjoys watching NFL games is because since I moved up here to Deadmonton, I haven't met a single person who follows any sport other than the NHL, its just Oilers fans and nothin else, lame. So its her or I'm by myself. It also helps that it doesn't lead to scraps on Sunday mornings when I suddenly wanna leave and go home to watch the game. She knows the drill.

I don't see how having a girlfriend who likes hockey would end that type of thing. I wouldn't care if my boyfriend (should I ever have one again) wanted to watch the game and get drunk with his buddies.

My girlfriend doesn't care for my Flames watching habits.
Hoo boy.

It becomes a "why them instead of me" issue, I hear where J is coming from.
I prefer the shared interest though.

I'd probably be the one telling him to go watch with his friends, so he wasn't annoying me while I was trying to watch the game.

I think you’re a bit more down to earth than most of the girls I date or have dated (of course I’m basing this on a message board, which seems insane but what the hell).
Also I think it’s just me but I wouldn’t want my girlfriend to ask me if I think Keenan should still be playing Bertuzzi with Iginla, or why we don’t practice our powerplay. When I’m dating a girl there are thing in my life that I want to keep to myself, to kind of be my own. And hockey is one of them.
And like Gozer said, it kind of forces you too decide between your friends and her, which almost always ends in disaster.

she is going to want to go if you get tickets.

That works both ways tho... I'd love to have someone I could take to games with me all the time. If I ever get a boyfriend again and he doesn't like hockey, I'll be in the same position I am now... It's hard to find worthy, hockey loving friends to go to games with.
