My Favorite pic looking down Juno Beach as the fog clears

Looking down Omaha beach

This looks like any old farmers field, but this field was the gun battery that Winters and his squad attacked on DDay (episode 2 BoB)

Point du Hoc

Can't remember what this was called......

Well I guess I should post some pics in dedication to this wicked thread I started! I sold my SLR camera because it was difficult using it in -50 weather. SO now I have a point and shoot but still manage to get some neat stuff.

AFI, you would have challenged Jayems for CP Photo Contest 19 glory with that shot.

Speaking of which, there'll be contest 20 up tomorrow. I'm thinking Wildlife. I'll have to check to see if it's been done yet, though.

Cool photos Koba. That first one is downright creepy.

I stumbled upon an Alice in Wonderland festival on Sunday. Many interesting faces.

This fellow darted his eyes toward me at the exact moment I was taking the shot:

Mad Hatter (?) laying on the intimidation:

But of course this festival was all about the children, and the wonder in their faces was the highlight of the day:

I won't impose all of them on you, but here is the set for those of you interested.

Miyajima at night (5 min exposure... you can kind of make out the movement of the stars even in this shrunken version)

That's wicked, Seb. Looks like a CGI of a wooden sculpture on a frozen lake.

Funny moment at the Longview Stampede as a cowboy goes head-first into the stands. He got up and walked away but the person he landed on needed medical help. The horses were a lot better than the cowboys in this rodeo with few managing to hang on for 8 seconds. This particular guy was bucked off three times in about 15 minutes after giving two re-rides.

Below, in a cloud of dust, a couple of wranglers get dragged around the infield by their unco-operative equine quarry in the Wild Horse Race.
