What is Bader talking about? The 2003 draft is regarded as the best draft ever and it’s not close. Strange opinion.

The Rangers will load up for a run this season, and dump salary in the summer.

Maybe he meant drafts that they've actually followed and categorized (not sure when they started, but likely years after 2003).

Take another look at 2015. This opinion started to surface a few years ago and is looking pretty solid.

Yep, You’re right. I just had a look and that first round in 2015 is really something. I still think 2003 is better but thanks for pointing that out. I somehow didn’t realize how good that draft was.

At this point, the only draft clearly superior to 2015 was 1979. And that hardly counts, because they lowered the draft age by a year in 1979 and got two years' worth of prospects in one draft.

Rob Ramage, Mike Foligno, Mike Gartner, Rick Vaive, Ray Bourque, Brad McCrimmon, Duane Sutter, Kevin Lowe – just in the first round in '79. Guy Carbonneau and Mark Messier in the third round, Glenn Anderson in the fourth. And that was with Gretzky being ineligible for the draft because he was on the Oilers' protected list!

With McDavid, Eichel, Marner, Hanifin, Werenski, Meier, Rantanen, Barzal, Connor, Chabot, Boeser and Konecny all going in the first round, 2015 was a hell of a year.

03 had 4 players who had over 1000 points.

The 2015 draft will likely have 7 players when all is said and done that have over 1000 points.

Montreal looking for a RHS D… they have some interesting RHS centres in their system. Would Razzy be worth which ever first we are supposed to give MTL this year plus Michael hage?? Maybe a little rich for MTL but if Travis hamonic is worth two firsts then rasmus is 100% worth that.

Might be too much for them, as I don't think they are ready to give up many futures, but I would LOVE that deal. I was a big Hage booster leading up to the draft, even though I knew there was very little chance of us snagging him.

I count four...

McDavid
Marner
Rantanen
Eichel

I think the 2003 draft was better. Can't argue with McDavid being the best player though

17 stars?

What's the bar for a star, because it seems that it may be a bit low.

David Littman of NHL traderumors suggests the following 8 centers as possible Flames' targets:

-Kirby Dach
-Martin Necas
-Jesperi Kotkaniemi
-Barrett Hayton
-Trevor Zegras
-Marco Rossi
-Peyton Krebs
-Joe Veleno

We've discussed most of these already.

If this were the basis of a deal:

Andersson for Dach+flames 1st. What else do the Habs add? A 2nd?

Flames could retain 50% or take other cap dumps back for more assets

Montreal adds Xhekaj. Dach isn't worth more than a 2nd regardless of his draft pedigree. Montreal adds more if they want retention.
