I’m sad. I kinda want to walk over to the dome and I’m not really sure why.

Years ago, my grandma passed away a couple days before my cousins' wedding. They had a photo of her on a table in the foyer. That's a vastly different scenario to this. I can't imagine going ahead with a wedding under these circumstances.

This is the 2nd tragic death of a Blue Jacket player. Matiss Kivlenieks also died from a fireworks accident.

I am without the words to convey how truly awful all of this is. Every aspect of it is just heartbreaking.
My thoughts are obviously with the Gaudreau family, losing two fathers, two brothers, and two sons in one fell swoop is a thing of nightmares that cannot be imagined.

Just heartbreaking news to wake up to. This is so surreal. I am still in disbelief and shocked. Rest easy brothers.

I've wondered what they would do too. I think they're probably in a situation where they can financially reschedule and not suffer. Many of us would feel forced to go through with it because money is spent and money to reschedule isn't there. Do you take the loss and have a happy occasion later? Do you go through with it anywhy? No wrong answers. Just hard decisions.
|
I think there's no way they went ahead.

From Hot Fuzz:
“Traffic collision,” says Danny, turning to the Sergeant Angel. “Hey, why can’t we say “accident” again?”
“Because “accident” implies there’s nobody to blame.”

I don’t post much… mostly lurk. As someone who’s struggled with depression, Montador hit me pretty hard. And now this… no words. Hug your loved ones and tell them how much they mean to you. Life is too short.

Waited until pg 13 of this thread to post. This is such a hard day. My 11 year old wore his Johnny jersey to school today, and we plan to stop down at the dome tonight to drop some sticks and flowers.

After Iggy left, I said to myself I will never buy another jersey with a name bar again.
Along comes this little guy, brings that same joy back to the team and city with his dazzling electric play, and out comes my CC and 250 later I got me a Gaudreau jersey.

Would highly recommend visiting the dome, in a weird way brought me some peace and reminded me of all the joy I had watching him.
Very difficult and tragic day, but a reminder of how strong this and the hockey community is. RIP Johnny and thoughts to the family

This hits hard… as a Flames fan and a new cyclist… makes me not want to ride anymore… I also feel sorry for Matthew being left out, but that’s just the nature of the thing I guess… RIP Johnny and Matthew.

In regards to the wedding. I couldn't imagine anybody in the Gaudreau clan thinking about going ahead with today.
No way. As close knit as they were? Their hearts are absolutely shattered. It's not just Johnny but Matthew too. Two family members wiped less than 24 hours before a wedding. Who could go on with that??
I drum up nightmare scenarios all the time in my head and this is one of those wildly outlandish scenarios you dream up and it's so far out there you shake your head and go "that's dumb" .
It's a worst case scenario of a worst case scenario. It's min numbing and painful to read because of the family it happened to. We know how close they all are.

A sad and pointless tragedy, losing two brothers to one incident, on the eve of their sister's marriage. Condolences to the family.
