PLD would be the absolute #1 worst asset in the NHL to acquire (or at least top 3) lol #### that.
I'll take the 1st, prospect, young roster player +
Hell, I'd take future considerations over PLD if that's what it came down to for Markstrom

I agree with the just say no to PLD.
As an exercise in futility is there a % retention of PLD's salary number the Kings could offer that you'd accept (I don't see them doing this, of course, but $pitballing a wacky idea)?
(e.g. Blake offers 25% retention on PLD)

The buyout is actually pretty favourable as far as buying out a 8 year deal can be. They'd save 7ish million dollars in cap hit over the last year's of Huberdeau's contract where it could be a concern.
It wouldn't shock me if the Kings buyout PLD and hit a reset.

I mean I really dislike the player and his attitude, so many red flags there, but the flames have some time to buy as a team that is retooling and PLD’s contract is easily a buyout candidate, especially a little more down the road. On top of that say he did catch fire playing with Huby and Kuzmenko? It would only be beneficial, an odd situation to consider for sure but if the flames were to take on PLD and his bloated contract they wouldn’t be doing so to just be nice, it would have to come at a cost.
Markstrom - no retention
Tanev - 50 percent retention
Duehr
For
PLD - no retention
Clarke
Kaliyev
1st
2nd
Trading Markstrom at no retention + Duehr nets Kaliyev + 1st
Trading Tanev at 50 percent retention while taking PLD on at no retention nets Clarke + 2nd
Thoughts?

I know times are fun right now, but I believe it when the Kings say Brandt Clarke isn't available. Nor should he be, even attached to a gigantic hockey tumor like PLD.

You've put some thought into that, but PLD makes it no good.
I don't believe we'd buy that out. I don't want that attitude in the dressing room during a rebuild.

Oh I do agree with you there, PLD has more than proven what he is to a locker room and Doughtys comments this year were pretty damning. If we were to take him on, again I’m not into that notion, it would have to come at a cost for sure; Markstrom’s stock is at a high right now while I’d say PLD’s at an alltime low, I’m not sure their even paying enough in my proposal lol.

Yeah odd with no game today. Even if Markstrom were to be traded and Vladar is out, couldn't they just recall Dansk?

I'd rather lose guys for nothing than trade them for Dubois.

PLD is a weird one. I'm not a big fan of his, but I am intrigued by the package he brings on the ice and the potential that is still there. He's only 50 games removed from a 60 point season and is only 25.
If they also added extra to have you take him...I'd think about it.
So it was like Dubois, 1st, 2nd (Could become a 1st), Spence, Kaliyev for Markstrom
I'd have a hard time saying no to that...maybe Huberdeau and Him really hit it off as two Quebec born players with something to prove.

Yeah, Dubois has a ton of negative value. Not sure why we're even talking about him.

Nah, PLD is Neal 2.0 to me. I think he'd be pretty unhappy in Calgary and just pout.

Don’t help LA fix its PLD problem. That’s a 100% pass.

to be fair in this scenario we are getting Clarke I think, not that I think it's realistic but that might be worth it
