As far as I'm concerned, without even looking at temperatures this summer has been glorious by virtue of being (almost) entirely smoke free. We had a couple of damn smoky years...

It's been a great summer for sure. I'm really looking forward to the cool down and snow though!

This was one of the best summers I can remember. Spring was pretty cloudy and mediocre but July-August was perfection. Outside of that one bad hail storm outside the city it was a relatively hail free summer which is also great.

And other than a few days in early July, no mosquitoes.

Bunch of softies if you couldn’t work outside or do anything this summer. Guys be out there roofing or doing concrete all damn day, and they don’t die.
30+ and sunny? Put on some sunscreen, don a hat and drink water. You’ll be just fine, sweating isn’t death.
Those looking for it to cool down much sit in a house with heat all day.

Those were some bad mosquito days though!
Regarding after work activity time, the real lack of 5pm thunder showers this year went a long way. Nothing ruins a bike ride, not even +30° heat, like an inch of rain falling in 5 minutes.

In defense of those who found it too warm for a stretch this summer I would agree.
Just as you've described 81MC, I do work outside all day everyday and it just isn't a blast to be sweating through your sunscreen all day.
I can see it for folks who work indoors all week and enjoy getting out on hikes for a morning/afternoon or campers for the weekend that this summer was a treat, especially without the blanket of smoke we've been known to get.
But the roofers and concrete workers you describe wouldn't choose 30+ days if they could. I've found for the most part outdoor workers vs. indoor workers feel different about periods of very warm weather. In my own opinion anyways.

Well I drank 8 litres of water and pissed once all day roofing on Saturday. We worked for an hour and took 30 minutes in the shade, from about noon on, and one of the guys does framing and roof sheathing all day, and he found it way too hot to, so, uh, sure.
Some people just aren't built well for the heat. I grew up in Canmore, so am much happier in cooler temperatures. I'm not sure why it's controversial.
It's just not fun to go out for a bike ride and have loads of sweat dripping down your face. I'd prefer it cooler.

Just had our roof replaced, it was a bit delayed as he said he was giving guys afternoons off on the hottest days because it was too hot and dangerous.

I hate all weather. I think I’m better suited for living where there is no atmosphere, like the moon.

Hot weather is objectively better.

Ah we're doing this again?
Alright I'll just say the same things I've said in this thread a dozen times already, then the same people will reply with the same things they've already said a dozen times.
I only like hot weather when I'm on vacation. At home, give me 15 degrees every day please
If we're talking extremes, heat stroke was way worse than hypothermia

Cool weather provides expanded wardrobe choices, so there’s that.

You probably sleep in your heated house all night too, don’t you softie?
