Yup, this might have been Tre’s last attempt to beat Vegas’s offer. I wouldn’t be surprised if a Vegas trade is announced in the next 24 hours.

Buffalo can take Tkachuk and trade him at the deadline then, him not signing an extension shouldn’t be a major issue.

Can Tkachuk even sign an extension right now? I assumed the Sabres wanted to flip Tkachuk, not going to happen if they want a long term deal in place.

I would think if Buffalo was thinking of doing this trade they’d want to talk to Tkachuk (or at least have the Flames ask him) if he would consider a long term commitment to them. If I were Adams I would hope to have some reassurance that he wasn’t opposed to the trade.
Edit, re: flipping Tkachuk- I doubt the Sabres have any interest in another high profile star needing trade after this.

They will certainly be earning mad street cred if they get it right.
Kevin Weekes' young insider career is basically riding on this now.

Well its over fellow Flames fans. Strickland confirmed Chuck rumors were BS. We are back at Monahan for Eichel and we know that in no way shape or form is that happening unless Brad comes up with multiple unprotected 1sts.

They could also try winning some games with him and trade him in the off-season.

Is anybody else nervous about:
a) what the Flames may give up for Eichel
b) impact of “rumours” on team chemistry
c) what comes next after another “swing and miss” by the GM
I feel this is too big a price to pay for one player.

Yes, he is in the final year of a long-term deal, so he could an extension at any point.

Macfarlane throws a comment in there about Tkachuk going to St. Louis in the deal (3 way trade)

Not only that…. But why? The team certainly can’t reach out to Tkachuk, so what scenario is there where Tkachuk found out about this and goes out of his way to nix it? One a rumour or because Tre called him and told him he wanted to trade him…. None of it makes any sense.

I wouldn't - I'd think if I were the Sabres, I'd be looking to turn Tkachuk into another 1st round pick at the earliest convenience.
They're not in the business of winning hockey games, they're in the business of pretending to win hockey games while bilking a gullible fanbase with precious little else to do in the winter.

Probably back to Vegas now haha. I thought that one was going to happen. Monahan has less value than Tuch so Flames are basically out

- Why do they do this you ask? They are tired of Brad texting and calling with a less then average package. So they release what they actually want to their insiders.
-What does this do? Puts pressure on Brad. While also in turn puts pressure on Vegas. The only two teams that have the parts that Buffalo apparently wants for Eichel.
- Now that the rumors are flying, obviously the players aforementioned know about them...What does this do? Hurts our team which is out to its greatest start in 20 years.
Just my take, but to me I believe this is what is going down.

Are you, by chance, a fiction author?
You have created quite an appealing plot.
Please, do elaborate. Spellbinding!
