TJ Brodie is a fine defenseman and has been damn well excellent this year.

I had to make a run to the grocery store yesterday after the game, hopped in the car and the overtime post game show was on. After a 3-0 decisive win over CBJ, Steinberg goes to the text line, reads some idiot asking if he thinks the Flames are looking to move Brodie, and obliges the guy and talks about Brodie being a sometimes frustrating player. Wtf?

He is on pace for about 35 points and +40, quietly going about his business and being rock solid. You pretty much never see a guy beat him one on one.

Yeah I would pay Brodie 6 million a year on a 6 year extension before I pay Hamonic half that for half the years. Brodie will be a lot harder to replace than people realize and if he walks as a free agent for nothing that will sting.

The “I’ll donate $X to CP if something happens” posts are stupid.

The same GM and coach led the team to their best season ever earlier this year. They haven't changed the roster for the worse.... Look at the "leaders" on the ice, you'll find the problem.
But if the leaders aren't doing what it takes to be a top team then that's ultimately on the coach, and therefore the GM. There's many, many star players in this league.

Some give it their all every game and constantly get better and some party too much and leave something on the table. A team with multiple stars in the latter category likely won't have what it takes to go all the way, so then you have to look at switching one or more out despite what they can provide point and skill wise.

The biggest indicator is the mandated week off and all star break. I know it's a break and the players are allowed do zero training and drink their faces off for a week straight, but it's no surprise some teams come back and keep chugging along and other teams come back and basically have to re-do training camp in terms of conditioning and then falter while the serious contenders are just hitting their stride.

It's a deadly time to lose a step if you're serious about winning a cup.

At this point, Brodie has gotten back into my good books. Hamonic is the one that should be traded to bring in offensive talent. Hammer doesn't provide enough to justify keeping him.

There is nothing wrong with Cassie Campbell as a colour commentator.

So yeah, it’s definitely debatable.
Couturier wasn't used in a top 6 role until about three years ago. Gaudreau always was.

In a top 6 role Coutourier has 5 goals and 9 points in 5 playoff games.

Someone should remind Mr. Norris that his first responsibility is defence.

I have no idea if Calgary has a "Richards and Carter" situation, as many posters allude to. If they do, then it's definitely on the GM to fix the problem.

You seem quite interested in this topic these past couple of minutes.

Did you see somebody on Washington who needed fighting tonight?

If the Flames don't turn into a top team in the west by Christmas, a big shakeup is going to happen. Just an opinion.

Do we need to start a 'random prediction' thread?

Fair, my opinion is that this team needs a big shakeup before it's too late.

I strongly disliked her for a while, but she has really turned it around in my opinion. More experience has benefited her.
