Hell this is what Lewis and Gaudreau did to the Flames with his first contract. Conroy basically packed it in gave up and was ready to head back to Calgary with just Arnold signed until Gaudreau finally said he's ready to sign.

Well and this is a fluid and changing negotiation. They may have been insanely close but something changed and they reached a new bottleneck. Who knows? I felt a rush of elation, a surge of disappointment and am now back to wait and see.
I hold you accountable for nothing.

This whole Johnny signing fiasco might be the absolutely lowest point in all of CP history. All the lunacy, paranoia, speculation, bitching and whining that spawned from this was way over the top and completely shameful to be honest.
There was no doubt in my mind for even a second that he would be signing here and quite frankly I don't see why this was ever a big event. Does any other fan base throw a parade when a RFA signs an extension?

Maybe not wrong but overly optimistic source. OR perhaps there was a hiccup that caused a delay.
That being said

Well, I'm sorry if I want my favourite team to have a chance at being good this year. It's possible with Johnny in the lineup; it's impossible with him sitting at home.
Tarasenko got eight years, $60 million. I fail to see a reason why Gaudreau shouldn't be paid the same.

Actually the source wasn't really wrong. They probably were ready for it.

Maybe Johnny feels he's worth more?
if they were really 1.5 mil apart only a couple days ago, could be possible Johnny wants over 8.

Rumours are that he wants more than that. Therein lies the issue.

Speaking of toilet scrubbing, the mods cleaned up something unsavoury pretty quickly.
Now I have no news on Johnny and wonder what I missed.
