I didn't mean that there is actually a 25 second clock but rather I was referencing the comment, by girlysports, that a team couldn't run a play in 25 seconds after a deep pass completion or run play. During a two minute offense teams will routinely run plays in 20 or so seconds in order to move the ball down the field.

Rumour is coming out that the 49ers and Kaepernick are close to terms on a restructured contract.

No one is really sure what this restructuring is or how why/how Kaepernick will agree to it, but something is going on.

The Twitters said it's injury guarantee stuff and he gets an option to void after the year. Makes sense, now they can play him without the worry of being on the hook if he's hurt and he can walk when the year ends.

I haven't heard about the voiding - the stuff I've seen has said the Niners don't want to risk playing him, him getting injured and triggering a $17.5 million injury guarantee. So this will give Kaep some of that money up front to waive that condition. Presumably he will be healthy by then, so he will do it to get some of those dollars.

I'm sure details to make it easier to move/release him will be in there as well. This contract was a Paraag Marathe thing - he was the contract/cap guy (and a confidante of the York family).

Doesn't say much for the organization that they were more worried about the 2017 cap (which they are currently way below) than winning games this year. They'd have at least 2 losses even with good Kaepernick playing, but the games against Dallas and Arizona were very winnable with better QB play.

Cam Newton out for the Monday night game.

http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/1...bay-buccaneers

Also read that the patriots have released Jonathan Cooper (foot injury at the moment) who was acquired in the Chandler Jones trade. He was 7th overall in the draft 3 years ago but missed his rookie season with a broken leg.

There's a chance a team weak on the right side O-Line could add this guy and get some serious value out of him.

Paxton Lynch will start for the Broncos tomorrow. He certainly played well last week in relief of Siemian. Sounds like the latter will be good to go for Thursday night against San Diego.

So how bad will it be for Cleveland today in lord Brady's return?

We saw the Steelers destroy the Chiefs after a bad loss. Have to think the much more evil Patriots will be looking for 50 today.

Sammie Coates is an outstanding vertical threat. Steelers haven't missed Bryant at all so far.

Browns lose another QB - Kessler leads TD drive then leaves game to have shoulder looked at.

Thus begins the Charlie Whitehurst era.

Rather displeased I picked them up off the waiver wire for this week and played them over the Jets D.

Too bad for Detroit that football games have second half.

I mean the Eagles has deserved every flag they've earned today but it'd be nice if the refs would call the game both ways.
