He's only 10th in scoring for the 2002 draft class, and 2nd for D (behind Keith).
Obviously there just hasn't been a large enough sample size for managers and coaches to evaluate him as well as some fans. They'll see soon enough that he's a useless bum.

Post of the thread right here.
Anyway, I was also irked by the Kane celly. Guy just bugs me. Crazy shift though.

You said you don't win with him...no stipulation. This proves that you can.
And for the Blues, one of the elite level teams in the league with its own collection of superstars, the comparison is apt.
You can't make a generalization then change the argument.

What about the Goal he scored? He really shoved it in without asking....

He had a bad shift that allowed the Hawks to prolong that series. Kane was brilliant and made a lot of other guys look bad too but as AC has pointed out, Bouwmeester gave him space and didn't use his stick in the first rush and stood on Elliot's stick while Kane did a wraparound. He might also have pointed out that Bouwmeester had the puck on his stick and instead of clearing it passed it to a Hawks player behind the net when he got bumped, who then passed it back out front to Kane. Very weak play that prolonged the pressure and led directly to the goal.
It might not be fair to conclude he is a terrible player or you can't win with him but I think it's fair enough to doubt him as one of your go-to guys. If Sutter had a do-over, I don't think he ever comes to the Flames as a free agent.

I don't recall exactly, but it was Keith or Seabrook that Johnny stripped of the puck in an OT that led directly to a goal, and Doughty that he made look silly last year in his hatrick game, so either those defenders are garbage, or Johnny and guys like Kane know how to capitalize on a bad play. It happens to the best of them, to say they are bad defenders every time they make a bad play is rather silly, considering the larger body of work. Sure the errors stand out, but come on. A guy doesn't have a 15+ year career playing at the highest levels of hockey, at an all-star caliber, by being bad at his job.

Anyways, I don't have an irrational hate for Bouwmeester. Didn't realize there was a Bouwmeester fight going on in the thread. In fact I've previously said that his new contract is quite palatable and he'd probably fit in fairly well in our current group of defencemen.
I was actually just pointing out what I saw twice on that shift that lead to Kane scoring. Watching live I was blown away the defender would back up so much without using his stick when he had an opportunity, then saw it was Bouwmeester after. Also didn't realize Bouwmeester was the player taking away Elliott's stick until the replay.
Sorry, I didn't mean to start a Bouwmeester fight or wade into the middle of one... just thought it was funny I got called out twice.

The one time Jbo tries to clear someone out from in front of the net and he ties up his own goalie instead.

The Blackhawk lines for the AM skate, today, were:
Shaw-Toews-Kane
Panarin-Anisimov-Teuvo
Ladd-Kruger-Hossa
Panik-Desjardins-Weise
Of course Q shuffles constantly...the other thing, For Game 5 Q reunited Seabrook with Keith, and moved Hjarlmasson to LD pairing with TVR at RD (where he seems MUCH more effective than LD)...Of course ANY 'Hawk D-man that has had to play with the washed up pylon, Rozival, has looked bad...

So, I've tried contacting NBC in a few ways to no avail, asking if they will show the game on a different network in my region. Is my only option streaming tonight's game? Our NBC affiliate is showing an NBA playoff game, since they are the local broadcaster for the Blazers.

Good news, the hockey game will be on KRCW, the local CW affiliate in Portland, Oregon. http://portlandscw.com/

That 'Hawks forward group still looks stacked. But their D core doesn't appear to be anything special outside of Keith/Seabrook.

DEFENSIVELY, it doesn't get much better than Hjarlmasson...a stay at home guy, that makes good decisions and first passes, and also has a good feel for when to jump into a play...TVR is learning, he looks like he will peak as a #4 or #5 Dman...his main asset, we can afford him under the cap...the 'Hawks have had to make due with some cheaper contracts for some regulars.

Looks like Rundblad is dressed for his 6 or so minutes as the 6th Dman...

Locke...IMO, the last 2 months, Rozival has been such a liability, that I, like many 'Hawk fans I know, would rather see Q take our chances with Svedberg and Gustafsson, over Rozival...but, Rundblad, spotted with favorable zone starts, in very limited time, is a slight upgrade over Rozi, and is a more offensive option on D, than the other rooks.
