LOL I'm extremely happy to have Hamilton but I'm almost just as pumped that the Flames stole some of the Oilers thunder on their biggest day of the year. It's pretty obvious there are some bad feelings between Neely/Sweeny and Pete seeing they dealt him to the Flames of all teams rather than let the Oilers offer sheet him.

I wonder if this trade went out because someone offered to take off the heat from the offer sheet. Could Boston match most offers around 7-7.3 mil?

Edmonton must have pissed off Boston, so Boston took the minor upgrade (1st, 2nd and 3rd offer sheet, so upgraded on 3rd to a second PLUS less resources used to hammer out a deal with Hamilton) and told Edmonton to chat with us.

The only two teams I see who we would get downgraded draft order wise if offer sheeted over 7.3 mil is:

Boston (Makes no sense)
Ottawa (Not sure)
Winnipeg (Do they need another D after grabbing Myers?)

Everyone else, we will probably take their picks and get a draft order upgrade, so they won't move at us:

Thanks Street, Damage, MattyC and Sureloss for the clarification regarding the target offer sheet.

I hope that Hamilton does indeed negotiate with the Flames in good faith and that we can sign him to a reasonable offer. I am excited to get such a caliber of player on the team, and the icing on the cake would be a good contract to go with it.
