It isn't irrational. I agree with you 100% about a lot of the things you dislike about dogs. I hate dogs who bark incessantly as well (so much so that I made a huge effort to train my dog not to bark - some people want their dogs to bark though). I also think it's very irresponsible to not clean up after your dog (which is why that is an infraction with bylaw if caught). None of those bullets points are super irrational.
What is irrational, and I really hope you recognize this, is constantly trying to push your agenda (not liking dogs on a superficial level) by trying to make arguments based on non-statistical events (ie. dog attack epidemics). You've run through a bunch of arguments (muzzles, breed bans etc.) to fix a problem that doesn't really exist in Calgary.
That being said, dog attacks do occur and all owners need to recognize that their pets aren't human and do not think the way we think. The onus is on the owners to raise friendly animals and the onus is on bylaw services when corrective action is required. Take a look at that last incident. All dogs and owners involved were behaving improperly and have all been reprimanded.

I think there is a problem at dogwalks with too much poo lying around. I think it's due to some people not watching their dogs well enough for whatever reason, and some who just don't care. In the 7 years that I have been attending my park I have never witnessed anyone receiving a fine for allowing this to happen.
I have seen the odd person picking up other's poo, besides their own, and I believe once a year their is a blitz to get everyone involved in cleaning up the area. However, I think much more should be done to rectify this problem.

I go for walks all the time on a path where many dog walkers frequent, and I would say most people look around to see if there are witnesses to their dog's pooing before they actual decide to pick it up.

It's not irrational at all. My cut off for being annoyed by barking is two barks. Just because yours is more doesn't make mine irrational.
I don't think irrational means what you think it means.

No, it's just rather obvious to everyone else in this thread but you how irrational you really are on this topic.
I think valo403 really pegged you right and it annoyed you and caused you to lash out at him a bit:

Especially the "who me?" act... personally that's what makes it impossible to take you seriously anymore.

I think the pro-dog crowd is so vocal and shouts down any opinion counter to it that people that would support me won't wade into the thread and I don't blame them (a couple of exceptions, though...shout out to V and cowperson - thanks guys). This "who me" thing is a figment of your imagination.

I can't understand how you could read what I said and come to the conclusion that I'm playing a victim card.
This is what I'm talking about when I say you strip out the context of my posts, then respond as though I said them without any background.
My post was in response to somebody saying I am:
- irrational
- extremist
- over the top
- ignorant
- a 'who me?'
My posts would seem a lot less irrational if more people that do support my position would be vocal about it - but why should they? Kybosh and a couple of other guys will accept certain points as true (e.g. dogs barking sucks), but they're in the minority.
FFS, if I said the sky was blue you'd pull up a post where I said look at how pretty the pink sky is at sunset so you could say "SEE SEE SEE you said here the sky was pink but now you're saying it's blue! You're so irrational dess I mean sliver!"

This is hilarious, you truly are a funny guy Dess. You believe there are a plethora of people who support what you say they just don't want to back you up for some reason?
Speaking of imaginations...

Many of us "pro-dog" crowd have said countless times we'd agree with some of your reasoning if you weren't so:
- irrational
- extremist
- over the top
- ignorant
- a 'who me?'
But you choose to only digest people's opinions that you agree with instead of listening to the other side.... damn it's like I've typed this about 17 times.
Stop being such a victim.

Actually it's reversed buddy. You've been banned for this type of irrational insane line of thinking before. Maybe it's time to look in the mirror and figure out you're the whacko in this discussion. Your borderline insane line of reasoning is hilarious. The conspiracy of people being afraid to speak who share your thoughts is the icing on the insanity cake.

I wouldn't say the first, its typical for people on these boards to have this pack mentality. No better way to discredit someone then for a bunch of people to pile on and attack a poster.

In most cases, but in Sliver's case he's doing a fine job of discrediting himself every time he posts in this topic.
The piling on occurs when someone posts something well thought out that doesn't support his view and he's too ignorant, irrational, extremist, and now a victim to bother trying to understand an opposing viewpoint.

If that is your viewpoint...just let him?

So that makes it ok?
CP is just as bad (and as pathetic) as every other Internet site out there where people find it acceptable to do this. The only thing missing from here now is for the mental midget wannabe cool kids to reference this (a la Springs1, Virgin auction, Wannamaker etc) in other threads. I am sure time will take care of this however....
