Fans at Dolphins practice tonight were chanting we want Orton during the scrimmage.

Dis, do you think the deal is completely dead now? I really thought Orton would be in Miami.

It's dead. All reports here indicate the Broncs wanted a 2nd, a 5th was the highest the Dolphins would offer. Barring a minor miracle Orton is a Bronco all year and will walk after that. He's been light years ahead of Teebus in practice and not starting him would cause a locker room revolt.

And nice pickup by the Broncos getting Bunkley. What's that? He was traded to the Browns last week? Yeah, he refused to report so the Eagles traded him to the next bidder. Undisclosed 2013 draft pick for him, not bad at all. Anyone is an upgrade for the Broncos at DT right now.

I'm just glad we got rid of him. Guy was an out of shape punk. About as sharp as my left too.

I'm completely convinced that the Bears are going to compete for a top draft pick this season. I don't see how they can completely overlook the league worst offensive line they had last year, especially given the division's strength at the pass rush. Now Kreutz wants out to top it off... Going to be a rough season for Bears fans and rougher for Cutler.

So Matt Moore's awful contract is a better choice than giving up a second rounder for a guy who could start for you for 10 years?

Not sure what Miami is thinking.

Yeah...Orton is starting to fall into that "Jeff Garcia" trap. Someone who has shown they can win games, thinks the game well, has the arm strength to get the ball downfield and seems like an excellent teammate....but cant find anyone willing to stay with him long term.

No idea why Miami isnt all over him. There are a couple other teams that should be eyeing him as well. I often find NFL personell decisions very confusing though.

Probably that Orton is 5 years into those 10 years of being a starter. Granted, even a 3-4 year starting Qb should have that kind of value. Although I don't think Orton is the guy who could push Miami past the Jets and Patriots. Maybe why they want to retain their second and see if they can make a play for Andrew Luck or whoever the hot name is at the next draft.

I think that right there makes the decision not to offer a 2nd reasonable. Orton brings an upgrade, but not one that's going to bump you any higher than a wildcard team. I'd rather keep the assets and look for an elite QB than move assets to become what the Dolphins always seem to be, a team capable of winning being in the mix but ultimately coming up short and then drafting in the middle of the first round, thereby ensuring they remain mediocre.

So it sounds like the Eagles have enough cap space to re-sign Jackson, keep Samuel, and go out and get a starting LB.

At least Frank Gore has decided to return to camp.

And a few of the beat writers I read are speculating that the start of the league year, Thursday, may trigger more signings.

Colts sign their 1st round pick, OT Anthony Castonzo.

They also signed former Eagles linebacker Ernie Sims and former Falcons DT Jamaal Anderson. Anderson was a 1st round pick in 2007 and Sims was in 2006.

Anderson could help stop the run and Sims however inconsistent he has been, is an upgrade at the LB position.

Really happy about this. Gives the Eagles that big, physical back they've been looking for forever.

Only thing I am worried about is the LB depth. Not sure what they have planned.

I hope he does well, would ahve liked to have seen him in Fins colors for another year but that's likely more out of a sense of nostalgia than anything else.

I'm fine with Chaney and Fokou/Clayton playing WILL and SAM, but MIKE is a bit of a concern. Casey Matthews has been getting all the reps in camp, but I'm hoping they pick up Tatupu or another veteran.

Yeah, I've always been a fan of his so maybe that's why I like the signing so much. I don't think he's going to be taking a lot of reps from McCoy, but I think he'll be huge as a short-yardage guy.

Saints add DT Aubrayo Franklin formerly of the Niners, the DLine is looking very, very good.
