Akio has been extremely disappointing so far this season. I hope he turns it around, he was on fire last year. He's basically a ghost this year, and is missing his shots and crosses by wide margins.
Agreed, Akio just hasn't looked up to play all year. Maybe he's a little too busy with his Youtube channel...
I don’t think the ref had a clear view of the Vancouver goal, because I’m not sure that would’ve stood. I just think she was looking through a crowd. For me, it looked like Carducci made the save and was run over into the net after that.
I thought this too in person but when I watched the highlights back, Carducci never got to the ball at all and it was behind the line before the 50/50 collision.

It is going to be a wet one tomorrow. Potentially a mud fest. I can recall a few thunderstorms with spells heavy rain (and lightning delays) followed by sunshine, but I can't recall a socked in, rain all day sort of home match. And that's what is forecasted.
I used to love playing soccer in the rain. And I don't even hate it as a spectator. I hope that the wind isn't too bad and that section 109 stays dry because being on the edge means that some rain can blow in. I would argue that a sloppy match might even favour the underdog. it is unfortunate for game day ticket sales though.

Vancouver Football Club and the City of Kelowna have a big announcement planned this week but very few details have been released.
The soccer club issued an invitation to media today, May 6, to attend the announcement the evening of Wednesday, May 8. The event is by invitation only at BNA Brewing Co.
Vancouver FC vice president of marketing Stephanie Wood said officials from the club, the Canadian Premier League and the City of Kelowna will be in attendance.
I get the hunch this is just Vancouver FC playing some games in Kelowna, but ultimately a CPL franchise in Kelowna would be just awesome - if I'm right, this is likely a litmus test for CPL soccer there. Baby steps!
Interesting that it's Vancouver FC making this announcement as Spruce Meadows have been the ones rumoured to be pursuing a Kelowna club. Either way playing a game or two in Kelowna would be a good way to test the market.

Maybe both groups work together on this? Maybe it will be a 2024 Friendly between Vancouver FC & Cavalry, or even a 2025 regular season match?
Look, I know I'm soft in my rapidly advancing age, but I'm not going to the game tonight. My friends who were coming along are also bailing rather than sit in the rain and wind...so if anyone is looking to go and needs tickets, send me a PM!
I'm heading down right after work - I brought several layers, including waterproof shells and a toque... and I'm also bringing rubber gloves to be able to hold my beer without my hands freezing to death, haha!

Haha, yea...I was going to go to the game too, but have bailed.
Sucks for the club from an attendance standpoint. I'll be surprised if they get 1,000 to the game.
