Listen, the performances are masterful, but they're also paper thin. There's very little depth to this film or the storyline. I appreciated the production design as well, but it all seemed like a vehicle just to show off how much they could reproduce a certain era or look. It was frustratingly one-dimensional, and I kept asking myself, "what was the point of that scene? I hope it pays off later."

That's not to say there's nothing to appreciate in the film, but it just felt sort of pointless to me overall.

After reading this and other reviews on it, I can't bring myself to watch it. It seems like hollywood pretentious nonsense. I also can't stand Bradley Cooper. He has an air of superiority and artificiality in almost all his movies and his interviews. The roles he takes he always exaggerates that it's like nails on a chalk board. Somehow critics love the overacting and pretentious roles. Meh. I'd rather watch the movie with Meathead Efron.

Rebel Moon is a failure. It's not terrible, it doesn't annoy you but won't wow you either. You'll watch, walk away and not care one bit about any of it.

Rebel moon had a plot that I could almost get down with, but the acting and the film making are just awful.

the princess that survived needed to be on the adventure with them somehow, so we care about her in part 2. The heel turn only works if you start to find the unlikable character likable before it happens. The would be reluctant leader pulling a team together needs to have a slight amount of charisma to make it remotely believable these people would drop what they are doing to join the adventure. It might have actually been a better star wars story for 7-9 than we got, ex red guard trooper protecting Rey the daughter of the dead and fallen Palpatine being chased around by the imperial remnant to be used as the symbol of a resurgent empire, ends up in the hands of Jedi Master Skywalker, being trained to defeat her own would be regents. But all of that would have required better actors, and a much much better director who was more interested in making an entertaining movie than shooting coooooool slooooooow moooooooooos

And Maestro is boring.

Guy is insanely overrated. I think I've liked one of his movies, and it was Dawn of the Dead. Everything since is the most average #### ever

So many terrible films that only made profits because of pre-existing fanbases that are loyal to a fault.

Fans don't have to pretend to like his garbage.

Just watched Stillwater tonight on Netflix. Great movie. I'd give it an 8.5/10 it was that good. I like movies that tell a good realistic story and this was it. Highly recommend. One of Matt Damon's best mostly because of the solid storyline.

Potential of cinema?

No, I get that when I watch Spielberg's films. Or Yorgis Lanthimos' most recent entry. There's honest to god ingenuity there.

When I watch Snyder's generally what comes to mind is "can they tone it down a little?", "excessive", and "yikes that dialogue was cringe, can we get this guy away from the script?"

There might be some influence but only like 20% of what he's doing with those superhero flicks would be wise to borrow from if you want to make good movies. There are some epic shots, and some dynamic action sequences (when done right) but that's about where it starts and ends with him.
