It's almost as if the players don't play any defense. Couldn't be.

I find it hysterical that they still don't understand the concept of team defense. Sure the SV% are pretty atrocious, but a lot of the goals are lapses that leave the goalie high and dry. There is a reason a lot of goalies rebound after being away from Edmonton.

Whoa man, you saw the tweet. It can only be the goalies or the coaching. There are no other explanations (like dressing tweeners in spots 3-6 on D).

The only way for their current defencemen to be better is to pay them more.

That is true. That was their big miss this offseason. If they had paid Bouchard like a top pairing defenceman, then they would have 3 top pairing Dmen with Nurse, Ekholm, and Bouchard. Then you could swap Kulak for Bouchard and have a top pair Dman in each paring.

Not only that, but 2 of those guys were right beside/in front of him! If he were wide open, rolling through the slot all by himself, that would at least be understandable. But he was right beside another player, and Foegele could not have passed the puck to him, even if he wanted to (Foegele probably couldn't even see him).

As a defenseman, and as the 5th man in the play, you CAN"T make that decision. You can't. Even when your team is trailing (unless it's the final minute and all the stops are being pulled)

Most likely scenario was their calculator was broken and with their crayon on a napkin while at the casino bar math, they thought they could give Campbell $5M and still have enough to pay four defencemen top four defenceman money.

And skates into the middle of the other four attacking Oilers and starts tapping his stick on the ice for the pass.

Can't make this stuff up!

If the goal against was the cherry on top, the stick tap was the whipped cream.

I just checked with hockey savant B. Stauffer, I mean… Bob S. He says you are incorrect.

I believe his quote on the Fan960 in October 2014 (as the Oilers were blaming everything on Dubnyk) was… “Make a save.”

But without Doobie & Eakins “Swarm” defence, the lottery queens don’t get McDavid, so they should be thankful the Schwartz was with them.

I think Woody’s new zone defensive structure for them might be Swarm 2.0

Nurse has mastered the Swarm on the rush, too bad that’s the wrong zone. Oops.

Woody's defensive structure is The Crouch.

And that is why I don't count Draisaitl as one of top centres in the game unlike all these stupid media lists. He is a winger.

Lol, only 2 games in and the wonder twins are back together again as per usual. It's always fun watching the Oilers panic and be forced to play the only card they have. And yet all the media dips**** on SN think this garbage 2 man team are the Cup favorites?? Unreal.

PSA: Oilers still have James Neal on the books for $1.9mm this year. And next.
