Its a long season. I don't doubt a ton of Flames players are probably needing this break just to rest and heal up for the stretch drive.

May have been discussed before but what about Burakovsky? I think he's having a bit of a rough go this year but why not add another 2013 1st round pick?

This is an interesting suggestion. Burakovsky was really good in 2016-2017 and 2017-2018, but his play has been much worse this season. If you look at the aggregate of 2016-2019, he still looks pretty good. I remember watching him at the WJC and thinking he was going to be a great player. It might be a good buy low candidate.

As long as it doesn't break the bank, I think Burakovsky would be a good player to have slotted with Bennett and Jankowski.
Maybe he could learn a little from Frolik.

His qualifying offer will be 3.5 mil though.

So the Flames would have to send out some money and there's risk involved. You're betting Burakovsky is 2016-2018 Burakovsky and not 2018-2019 Burakovsky. Otherwise, 3.5 M or more is hard to take.

Burakovsky would be a very interesting add... obviously the salary hit would require some changes to the roster...and it would probably cost the Flames 1st... but arguably he is worth a first, at least in terms of potential...
not sure if ppl already know this, but a fun fact is how he and Ramus Andersson are childhood friends - Burakovsky is actually Swedish...

Burakovsky is a lot like Neal though. A good shooter with some good size but doesn't really use it and the details in the game aren't there.
I'd be all aboard if Neal wasn't already here but I just don't think you can have two guys like that.

Hard an interesting rumor that further shows how No Good Edmonton is. Eric Duhatcshek and Will Nault were talking about a trade rumor surrounding Jake Muzzin and Tyler Toffoli to the Oilers in exchange for Pool Party and a 1st or 2nd.
Let's take that for a spin around the block:
Jesse Puljujarvi (925k AAV) plus 1st/2nd for:
Jake Muzzin (4.7M AAV) + Tyler Toffoli (4.5M AAV)
=Mortgaging your future, and spending beyond the cap for reclamation projects.
One would HAVE to assume Edmonton would want to send salary back the other way as they have already spent beyond the cap. Wow. They really are no good. At all.

Talbot apparently holding up a trade with his NTC
David Pagnotta @TheFourthPeriod
Also told Oilers recently offered up Cam Talbot to a non-playoff team in the East, a club they’ve spoken to before about him, as part of larger deal, but seems as though they remain a team he won’t accept move to (he has 10-team no-trade list, willing to lessen it).

Has to be the rumored trade with Philly in the East IMO.
C'mon Talbot waive to go to the Flyers with a 1st for Simmonds!

Why would someone not want to go to Philadelphia? It's always Sunny in Philadelphia.

Yeah there is no reason Talbot would want to go to Philly. Once a couple guys are healthy there is a veritable log jam of guys there to try and get some playing time ahead of. Not to mention they have already gone with Carter Hart as the starter now and in the future.
Hart, Neuvirth, Stolarz, McKenna, Elliot, Lyon....all guys who are or have played with the big club this season.
Hard to believe Holmgren/Fletcher would add another.

Maybe, but I also think the Flyers know they need a veteran to pair with Hart to start next season and won't be moving forward with Neuvirth or Elliot. Could want a first hand look at Talbot to see if he fits in.
I guess other options would be Carolina, New Jersey, or Ottawa.
Honestly probably a little short sighted for Talbot. Any of those eastern non-playoff teams likely need a goalie for next year, he's going to need a new contract, why not get out of the dumpster fire in Edmonton and see if you can impress in an audition somewhere else.

If it's not Philly then I would think it's NJ...they are hurting for goalies right now.

Say you're talbot this season:
The team has left you high and dry, they've signed your backup to an outrageous deal and are letting you twist in the wind.
They are trying to send you to another terrible team to make themselves better.
Why on earth would you waive? Talbot is looking at a scenario where he can collect his money in edmonton over the next few months and hit free agency and go anywhere while being able to argue "sure my stats were bad, I was playing for the OILERS" and then sign a dubnyk (remember him?) deal with an actual team of your choosing. It's really only a couple more months in Edmonton at this point and then you're gone.
I would 100% be holding out for a trade to a competitive team where I could showcase my talents. Why would Talbot be looking to do the oilers any favours at this point.
Hang on, kid, salvation is almost here!

Is there any realistic way Talbot could end up in Calgary this season? He’s the the type of goalie I’d prefer to replace Smith with going into the playoffs as well as next year. A guy who would be a backup but has the experience/ability to take on a bigger role if need be.

yeah, Talbot has no reason to make this easy for edmonton really... better to get traded to a team that will actually give him a chance to rehabilitate his stats, allowing him to move into free agency with a cleaner, non-Oiled, resume...

I would love Talbot in Calgary. He probably resents the Oilers more than anyone i'd imagine. It would light an absolute fire under his ass if he played with the Flames
