Puljujarvi is worth far less than Gurianov or Kravstov. If I were another GM I would look at the fact JP spent significant time with McDavid and in some cases both McDavid and Draisaitl and could literally do nothing. A baboon would literally get over 30 pts playing in that role (see Zack Kassian 2019-20).

JP is likely a 4th liner if he is able to hone his defensive game, which needs a lot of work even though there was a time recently where Oilers fans and media were saying he was elite defensively.

I think he will be a cap dump add on to another trade which when the trade is broken down will show JP has negative value at his $3MM cap hit. A team like the Coyotes will capitalize on that if a Chychrun trade happens.

Friedman that he believes that a Puljuarvi trade will happen, but he cannot give a timeline on when it will happen
The guy has been available for years and the reason he hasn't been traded is because teams don't think he's worth all that much and the Oilers do. Until the Oilers get realistic about his value he's going to rot on their roster. They should just take the 4th round pick and move on.

LOL exactly. Mystery solved. Maybe Friedge should pay you to help him write his ‘insights.’

They are holding out for someone to pay something similar to what the Flames got for Bennett

Not going to happen but that’s what they are hoping

His value is going down every second

Even as a junior player, the question was if he had the skills and hockey sense to product offensively in the NHL.
The answer appears to be no. He doesn't have great finish and can't generate offense on his own. He looks like a reasonable bottom 6 forward but that's it.

All I'm saying is, let's see how he does outside of the garbage chute that is Edmonton.

Oh I agree, I think there is a better player than what we are seeing in Edmonton, but I also don't think there is a player that will produce offensively in the NHL.

1.45 cap hit
Someone like Arizona should take a look at claiming him

If the Flames weren't right up against the cap, Tolvanen would be worth a waiver claim. The team could use someone with his shot right now

Make the room and claim.

Why is a team like Nashville that already struggles offensively (moreso than the flames) waiving Tolvanen? I’m not so convinced he should be claimed

Yeah let's not claim others team garbage until we can give our own players a chance.

Tolvanen has the most oddly balanced point spread during his career.

2018-19: 1 goal and 1 assist.
2020-21: 11 goals and 11 assists.
2021-22: 11 goals and 12 assists.
2022-23: 2 goals and 2 assists.

That one extra assist last year means he probably missed an empty net at one point.

Just like Ruzika, I’d rather see more Phillips, Zahorny, Pelletier and Zary before any waiver claims.

I’d still take Tolvanen. He’s 23 still and his cap hit isn’t terrible

I doubt Tolvanen makes it to us but he'd be worth the gamble IMO.

Who do you waive if you get him? Can't have 24 players on the roster.
