I watched Pottersville for the first time last Christmas, and still can't believe I made it decades on the internet without bothering to learn what furry subculture is. It's like Pokemon. What the hell is a Pokemon? Do I really want to know?
My wife doesn’t understand why I don’t like doing things.
Ever try booking any campgrounds? Or finding rec sites? The BC sites website is the worst ####ing thing I’ve ever used, campgrounds cater to big RVs while failing to have web service that wasn’t last updated by the soviets in 1996 and all around ‘vacation’ planning is way more frustration than the ‘vacation’ is relaxing.

North American campsites are the worst. They’re designed to appease the people that want their own private spot, but it’s a horribly inefficient use of land. Just make them so put your tent where it will fit in a field. I was thankful for the low stress level of camping in Iceland. It was so open you didn’t need to worry about ever finding a spot.

Camping on crown land is like that, but then again, you have to worry about drunk people with ATV's and Guns.

High occupancy camp grounds? Fk that! “Get back to nature in a field of tents.” Sounds fantastic
It’s better than the current system, especially in popular locations.
Where would you rather camp?
and
or here in Jasper
You know who can f off, RVs. They should park on the side of the road, not have huge spaces allocated for them sucking up prime real-estate.
Would you be in favour of us making more campgrounds in popular locations (like banff national park)?
I think the main issue is we let the moronic dip#### tree-hugging morons halt all progress, so we're stuck with the infrastructure that worked for us in 1980, yet we've quintupled our population AND international travel is easier and more affordable so we have way more tourists, too.

Stick with it, we’ll win this (obvious) battle eventually.

I can't believe how poor customer service has become.
We took possession of a new construction in December and have your mostly standard deficiencies we're still waiting to have installed / replaced.
A couple of the items (damaged dryer door) started the replacement process in January and the appliance store said they expect it to take 1-3 months. It took several emails and a phone call in order to get confirmation they even received the information needed to submit the claim to begin with. Fast forward to 3 months later and it's been pulling teeth to get anybody to respond when I'm trying to find out if there's an update as it's been more than the 3 months they initially said. Nobody responds.
We've had the wrong fridge for 4.5 months now since we pointed it out in the pre-possession walkthrough. Our warranty specialist only updates us with "the supplier isn't responding to me".
Similarly, my wife ordered new dining room chairs from a Canadian company and they arrived 3 months late with no updates, and were in boxes with zero extra protection inside, so every piece of each chair was badly damaged. She has been trying to arrange replacements or returns if possible, and again the company refused to reply to any email or phone call so she has a credit card chargeback that's pending.

First thing I’d like to try is making use of the existing space more efficiently; not having 10 individual sites, where 30 people could realistically set up. Maybe if that doesn’t help, look at building out in a way that keeps the parks pristine but allows more people to enjoy it. I wouldn’t object to a town, so as long as it doesn’t get overrun by Tim Hortons and Boston Pizzas.

Speaking of tourist sites being overrun, I heard moraine lake is being closed to parking for the public. Shuttles only for access. Can someone confirm this, or will there be exceptions?
On one hand it's probably for the best since the people fighting each other for sunrise parking was getting out of hand with people practically sleeping in their cars and it filling up by 3AM
But what does that mean for hauling equipment (since its a hub for many lengthy hikes), and people with dogs? How would that work transport-wise, I wonder.
Hopefully the parks people have a plan in place that still allows the site to be as accessible as it was for every one.
New in 2023 - Moraine Lake Road is closed to personal vehicles
Moraine Lake Road is closed to personal vehicles year round. Parks Canada shuttles, Roam Public Transit, and commercial buses are permitted from June to mid-October. Certain exemptions apply.
Quote:
Will I be allowed to take my pet on the shuttle?
Certified assistance animals are allowed on board at no charge. Owners of assistance animals should be prepared to show the animal's verification of training.
Passenger pets are allowed on board at no charge. All pets must be crated in a secure and clean carrier designed and intended for the carrying of animals which is small enough to fit on the owner's lap.
Passengers must hold onto the carrier at all times and are responsible for the safety of their pet.

They can leave their fricken' mutt at home. Or let it get eaten by a bear, that then has to be put down.

Yeah, it’s a compromise, but if they have a frequent enough shuttle service, groups could designate someone to drive their personal vehicle and let everyone else and the gear off at the drop-off location. It’s not unworkable.

Uhh... more like they can walk around Lake Louise or other hikes instead of Moraine? Maybe they'll go to Peyto and get a pic of the lake and make instagram comments about how it's in the shape of their canine.
One thing I noticed in the last few years driving to Lake Moraine... Moose. I guess I keep aiming to go there during golden hour, but man, I've seen Moose on or at the side of the road about half a dozen times in the last few years. I don't think I've ever seen one prior to the pandemic.
Lake Louise I went twice when it was shut down because of a bear sighting. Again, never once heard of an instance where it had to be shut down because of a bear prior to the pandemic.
Moraine has those cabins in the area. Leeching over from the camp site thread, but if they added double to triple the amounts of those cabins to Lake Moraine and had it shuttle only, that'd be a super cool area to visit. Beautiful area.

Ever asked yourself why? Isn't it convenient that animals, which also happened to be the things that set the pandemic upon us (killing millions of us who have rightfully taken our spot at the top of the food chain), are now moving into our spaces?
My theory: they're preparing to finish the job. First it's moose on our roads. Bears in our tourist traps. What's next? Coyotes in our homes? Whales abducting our children?
My opinion? Might sound crazy. It's time to kill all the animals. Before it's too late.

Take them to small claims court and try to start cobbling together some kind of half ass attempt at losses based on loss of use of enjoyment. If they’re in breach and not honouring warranties it’s time to start writing letters and making claims to see if things will get resolved. It’s worth the stories alone for virtually zero effort. You don’t even need a lawyer (IMO).
