Man, just trade for Poolparty. I swear he'd freaking blossom big time in a structured environment like Calgarys system. It's more familiar to him from a Finnish perspective. Dudes a great piece in a 5 man cohesive unit than a side piece on a team built around two or 3 guys.

I truly believe what we saw in that WJC gold medal team is what he really is. #SavePoolparty.

Poolparty + 1st for a 5th? Don't punish any of Flames' C D E prospect please.

Poolparty is tied for 14th on the list of highest point total for one year at the WJC, with 17 pts in 7 games. That puts him up there with Wayne Gretzky, and Eric Lindros. I know that doesn't necessarily translate in any way to the NHL, but there's a good hockey player there, there just has to be.

Marty Murray had 15 points at the WJC in 7 games and went on to score 73 points in 261 NHL games.

Craig Hodgeson had 16 points in 7 games and went on to 142 points in 328 games.

Puljarvi has 104 points in 285 games.

There are guys who have great tournaments who don't amount to much in the NHL.

One, he was physically developed at the WJC, which allowed him to be dominant

Two, he played on a line with Laine and Aho, one of the best lines we've seen at the WJC in some time

Three, the game is a lot less complicated at that level, compared to the NHL

Four, some people just peak early

Just because he had a great 2 weeks, against a bunch of kids, does not mean that he will necessarily be a star in the NHL. In fact, with 7 years under the bridge since, it's a pretty safe bet that he never will be.

That is what is being disputed.

There just doesn't have to be a good hockey player there.

I still think there's a chance Puljujarvi turns into another Nichushkin somewhere. But not Edmonton.

Sorry, should've followed that up with a "IMO", or something. That last line was meant to look desperate/jokey.

Did Nichushkin ever lick boogers out of his own nose in public?

I definitely think it's possible. His defensive game isn't bad, and he often uses his size well on the forecheck/along the boards. He definitely needs a change. He did put up 36 pts in 65 games last year (D+6 year), and 25 points in 55 games the year prior. IMO, he looks better than Nichushkin did for Dallas, before he went to the Avs.

In Nichuskin's D+6 year, he had 10 points in 57 games for Dallas.
In Nichushkin's D+7 year, he had 27 points in 65 games for the Avs.

Again, doesn't really mean anything, just interesting to look at....

It's not like he was an off the board pick at #4. Most scouting agencies had him ranked that high. Maybe they were all wrong, but I think it probably has to do with the Oilers organization just sucking when it comes to bringing a lot of these guys along and teaching them what they need to know. If they can't figure it out for themselves, they are pretty much screwed. If Tkachuk was drafted by the Oilers, he would probably be in JP's shoes right now.

It did kind of shock me that Kekalainen took Dubois at #3, when fellow countryman Puljujarvi was on the board, and seen by most as the better prospect.

I recall that as soon as he did that, media people were asking: ‘Does Kekalainen know something we don't?’

Narrator: ‘He did.’

Not sure where to post this but it sounds like we may have some news coming in today. No details on what it entails quite yet (Signing, call-up, trade, etc).

Stay tuned.

Here are my predictions ranked in order of most likely:

Kylington update
Call up Philips or Pelletier
Lucic traded to Boston for Folgino or more likely Smith
