Makes you wonder why their employees have been fighting so hard to unionize over the past few years. Luckily the laws are completely in blizzards favour
So Chris didm’t sign a new contract , clearly didn’t have the actual raise in writing or agreed on - as that would be legally binding if it was in writing / email - refused to perform his first duty as a team lead (firing an employee) because they were his friend, and then got mad because the salary he was getting paid (which he originally negotiated) wasn’t “high enough” compared to counterparts in another country ?
He also didn’t read his non compete and resigned on a whim and then is annoyed they are enforcing their contractual right when HE resigned - does he not know what a non compete is ??? They didn’t fire him why would they pay him hahah
I have no doubt Blizzard is a crap company - but Chris sounds like a bit of a dope to me who was mostly mad his friend(s) got fired and quit
Oh he definitely messed up how he handled the situation overall but if he could actually prove some of these allegations such as the pay issue he might have a legit case for constructive dismissal depending on the laws in that particular jurisdiction.
In any event as you said not having any of these promises in writing is what really screwed him here, so I think we’re on the same page that a collective agreement would have taken care of that.
Having had the displeasure of going through a similar situation, I have a lot of sympathy for him, but I still think he comes across like a naive, entitled idiot.

What I'm a bit unclear on is how he has this contract that includes the non-compete if he never got anything in writing about the promotion, pay increase, etc.? If it was in his original contract where something like leads and above had this clause kick in, then how would it kick in when HR told him there was no promotion?
The likely full story here is the company jerked him around and screwed him a bit, but his fault in the matter is not properly mentioned. Something like a 75% screw job, but a 25% goof up on his side

We can both agree contracts in employement are very important and not something to be taken lightly . How both parties arrive at said contract we can disagree on

Yeah that was pretty funny, but tbh I'm playing some season 3 and still having fun. Trying a different build and found something that works pretty well.
Maybe because it's I don't try to grind out the top end gear so I can grind out the top end nightmare dungeons so I can grind out the top end gear but I'm still having fun in small quantities.
Each season it's kinda neat to see the new season mechanic and quests (the end of this season was kinda dumb, the seemingly last quest of the season was random drops, so you had to grid to finish the quest gag), and since there's 5 classes with at least a few interesting builds each I figure I'll just play for a week or 2 each season, experience some new stuff, blow a bunch of stuff up with a new build or class I haven't tried, and then stop when advancing feels to slow.
I was thinking of trying Last Epoch but I heard that the story isn't that great. Since I'm not going to be a deep endgame player I wonder if it'll be much different or better for me. The skill system does look interesting though.

Do NOT buy Last Epoch, it will suck your free time away from you like a nuclear powered Hoover vacuum.
I am 1000 hours in on early access and have made over a dozen different characters, if you suffer from Alt-itis then this game is your cryptonite.
The story is interesting but not why you play this game, you play it to see the myriad different ways you can obliterate screens of enemies with a smile on your face.

When the Last Epoch multiplayer patch dropped I played through the campaign and some end game. End game was in its infancy and was still good. Can't wait to check out the new trading system and sub classes next week. Its worth picking up IMO its often seen as the balance between Path of Exile and Diablo 3/4
In fairness early access has been out for over 3 years.
Yeah my first experience with it was their crappy Alpha client you could try for free, lol. Been following this one for a long time so excited for the 1.0 release. I haven't played too much i've been waiting for actual release.
