Taxi Driver was a financial success and was nominated for four Academy Awards, including Best Picture (but lost to Rocky) and received the Palme d'Or, at the Cannes Film Festival.[11] In later years, the film was ranked #52 on the American Film Institute's list of "100 Years, 100 Movies,"[12] and #22 on its "100 Years, 100 Thrills."[13] Bickle was also named as #30 on its' "villains" list.[14] It has been selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry.[15] The film earned $28,262,574 in the United States.[16]

Taxi Driver was reportedly part of a delusional fantasy on the part of John Hinckley, Jr.[20][21] which triggered his attempted assassination of President Ronald Reagan in 1981, an act for which he was found not guilty by reason of insanity.[22][23] His stated reason was that the act was an attempt to impress Jodie Foster by mimicking Travis' mohawked appearance at the Palantine rally. The movie was so influential that his attorney concluded his defense by playing the movie.

Like the youtube comments section says; dentists suck, Nazi dentists really suck. Awesome thriller, my fav Hoffman movie by a longshot. Not going to go on and on about it, as I don't really read much of anyone else's comments about movies, so why should I expect you to read mine? Like most all movies on this list, superb acting, classic quotes, and memorable scenes.

Sasha Baron Cohen is a comedy genius, the guy is so bloody talented and one of his most popular characters made the seemless jump to the big screen in this 2006 mockumentary. After making an amazing 26.4 million on a miniscule 837 theatres, people took notice and pretty soon, everyone and their dog was saying, "NICE" "I LIKE, HOW MUCH??"
