Conman will sweet-talk his way into two 7th rounders

I thought centers were supposed to be expensive.

Not having to give up a 1st is great work by Conroy. I don't think Briere is going to look back on this trade and think he did a good job.

Damn, not a 2028 7th rounder.

Seriously, it seems like such an odd thing to add a 7th three years from now.

The Flames have been sniffing around Frost for a while now and as recently as Xmas IIRC. So for them to get a guy they've been looking at pretty regularly is nice.

Now about the Cozens fella.....

All signs are pointing to us having a great 2024 draft.

With the emergence of Wolf we need young RFA players more than we need 2nd rounders. By the time a 2025 2nd rounder is ready to make an impact Wolf will be 27 /28.

We got a guy who could turn into a poor man’s backlund (frost) and a 8 year younger version of Brandon saad (farabee)

At least we didn’t sell the farm
If the Flames get two forwards who consistently put up .6ppg that's a massive win. .6ppg is just short of the top 100 forwards in the league.

Even if both Frost and Farber top out as third liners, this is a solid trade. The 2nd could easily be recouped.

Remember when we gave up a 3rd for Brandon Bollig?

This. When I heard they were getting both Farabee and Fraot I assumed for sure one of those prospects or a delist round pick would be involved. Fantastic work by Conroy.

We pretty much gave up nothing (a healthy scratch, someone who hasn’t impressed the last two coaches, a 7th round pick years from now and a second) the second round pick is the only thing with any value to us
And
We got a couple of decent young forwards

We didn’t give up any prospects, we are younger now and deeper. Nothing has really changed with where this team is in its rebuild. We still have some vets to move, we’ve just exchanged deadwood for assets

Yet

There are still people who are pissed off

Incredible really

This feels like trade you make on EA Sports, but before it had the ability to reject lopsided trades.

Well done pownmaster Conroy.

Indeed he did. Not sure that establishes he won’t develop into a solid player. Perhaps your inference ultimately proves true, but the mere fact that he cleared waivers at a point in the season where teams will likely be forced to waive to add doesn’t establish that a guy can’t play. At least that’s how I see it.
