I presume the giant bowl of fire will not be in the final design. Otherwise I can only imagine the homeless that will congregate there in the winter for warmth, and the bags of feces and other trash that will get tossed in there. Only a matter of time before some drunk frat boy gets tossed in there as well...

Not Ribtor. If I remember correctly Ribtor was on 11th. I shopped there back in the day to get Geology field school stuff.

It will probably be 30 in November by the time the arena sorry Place opens.

Looking at older streetview images - it's Kinsmen centre.

Yeah…. They had a concept on which they got a budget to construct it… which then lead to designing those elements… based on the concept which was approved….
So, yeah. Duh.

I’m not from Calgary but the new design is miles better than what the previous one was. That previous one was so half assed and boring. The new one looks like a modern day creation. I haven’t read the details but it looks good so far!

-30 maybe. The sun is still further from the northern hemisphere during the winter months, climate change or not.
Last year was really warm due to an extreme El Nińo event. But once late march and April hit, we actually had below average temperatures with slightly above average rain.
Even now, many parts of the UK are experiencing below average temperatures for this time of year.

It's like you have ESPN or something.
Very disappointed about the name, Arena looks fine. Let's hope they don't shove a giant truck in the smallest part of the concourse in this one.
Let's get this thing built and buy some $30 beers.

If I cant pee on your hands while going this will have been a failure. Bring back the trough.

But would be open for the people with tickets to the event?

Not sure what that other area is to the west of the penalty boxes near the ice?

Here's a good photo of the same thing in Detroit:
Just inside the blue line, where the guy in the suit is standing, you can see knock-out area with a bunch of folding chairs. The folding chairs can be moved and removed to accommodate wheelchairs as needed.

The saddledome flooded up to row 20... and this is 11 meters underground... so about row 60 when she floods.
