Yeah I agree that Everton dodged one. They should have been relegated. City and Chelsea are seperate issues and should be addressed too, but everton broke the rules and are rightfully punished I just question why this took so long and allowed them to right the ship on field first.
guessing some of the relegated clubs from last year will sue them now and they'll end up having to pay settlements similar to what happened with hammers years ago
If Everton have breached financial rules, absolutely go ahead and punish them. A 10 point deduction seems harsh though, especially as we won't see the same standards applied to Man City or Chelsea. If they were, we'd be seeing those clubs dropping far, far down the pyramid and that's highly unlikely to happen.
Should have been 20.
Everton - Blue
Man City - Blue
Chelsea - Blue
Oilers - Blue
Sensing a theme here? Punish them all and let God sort 'em out!

Apparently there are 3 suits coming for that very reason. And yeah, it took too long, but what does that say about City and Chelsea? It's been years!
We all know which clubs are playing fast and loose with the rules, but this is more about how many consecutive seasons Everton reported losses, and going over the allowed loss of £124.5 in 2021-22. They're totally guilty of doping, but they have a point when they blame an unnamed Icelandic star we all know from his glory days at Swansea for being "unavailable" to play or be sold on.
I don't think Manchester City will face any penalties, as their revenues are through the roof. What makes this kind of thing tricky is that they've actually been caught and punished by UEFA for financial doping by way of inflating their sponsorship figures, which is extremely difficult to prove. Who are the Premier League to say that a completely unrelated company wish to sponsor Manchester City's bus for way more than would be fair market value? We're talking about a league that allowed an investment fund that is TOTALLY unrelated to the Saudi government to buy Newcastle.

What in the what?
No it isnt.
I love Corporate Fraud, its literally a hobby. You know how some people love 'True Crime' yeah, thats me and Corporate Fraud.
Manchester City have been openly fraudulent since Day 1 and made no effort to hide it.
And why should they? Gordon Ramsey would kill to be able to cook as well as they do, those books...good luck ever getting access to the real ones, if they even exist. I mean...who cares? UEFA doesnt care. FIFA...as a 'rule-implementing body' is a laugh.
Nobody cares as long as the cash keeps flowing.
Everton got their wrists slapped because they didnt keep up the grift.

Basically their losses exceeded the threshold, over 3 years you can lose up to 105m pounds, everton were at 124.5 per the league, it's part of the PSR, profit and sustainability rules
Everton argued they had a bunch of issues that caused it, russia attacking ukraine etc. They had to cancel sponsorships and things like that
So its cheating in the sense that they spent money when they shouldnt have, hypothetically on players which would improve their chances on the field, I.e not be relegated
Which is why the 3 relegated clubs will absolutely get compensated in some way

What exactly did Everton do?
Misreported financial losses? What is the implications of this in the actual game/roster/etc?
It just looks even worse now because, if they'd been punished 'at the time' they'd have been relegated and another team would be in the PL making the big coin.
People can say that they dragged their feet, but it really does seem that everyone was looking for a way to punish Everton...without really punishing Everton.
Because what Everton did, within the context of what City and Chelsea are getting away with? Is laughable.

Some people suggest that Chelsea and City could be looking at relegation as a result of their issues. Honestly, they’re flat out cheating, so it should be a harsh penalty. But I’ll believe it when I see it. The PL wants to have those clubs and they’ve shown no signs of discouraging this kind of thing. Soon enough we’ll have Newcastle to add to the list.

City won't be punished because they are really, really good at inflating their revenue through self-sponsorship deals. Chelsea are a whole different story because Roman Abramovich gave personal loans to the club that he forgave before he sold it, which is way worse than what Everton have been found guilty of.
Everton are in massive trouble because they are going to be ordered to make payments to the clubs that were relegated. Their new investor group, 777 Partners, have preset discounts in the sale price built in to take this situation into account. In short, the new stadium is going to bankrupt the club. They'll receive another nine point deduction for going into administration and will almost certainly be relegated this season.
A coalition of eight clubs understood to be Chelsea, Manchester City, Newcastle United, Everton, Nottingham Forest, Sheffield United, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Burnley defeated a temporary Premier League ban on loans between clubs with the same owners.
The Premier League asked the clubs to pass an amendment to ban loans into the league for this January alone while they attempt to draft new rules to deal with loans and multi-club ownership. In private conversations with the 20 clubs, the Premier League asked for extra time to get to grips with the difficult issue of clubs loaning players in from partner clubs. While a majority of 12 voted in favour, it did not reach the required threshold of 14.
In a separate vote, the clubs also rejected new amendments to harden up so-called associated party transactions governing the commercial deals agreed between clubs and external companies. It is understood 13 clubs voted in favour, one short of the required majority. In that vote, Burnley switched sides. Those rules would have put much greater personal liability on directors.
