In his last 10 games Johnny has been outscored at even strength 4-19.

Honestly, I wouldn't be shocked to see Maurice let go. He's not been very effective in Florida. The team has had some very good individual performances (despite Barkov having a poor year overall), but cannot seem to consistently win games and are now fully in a tail spin. Getting blown out on a regular basis, not even keeping games close, which is usually the hallmark of a Maurice team.
They are in serious danger of missing the playoffs already unless they go on a hot streak soon. This is still a pretty talented team, so missing the playoffs after last year would be an unmitigated disaster.

The Panthers are a different team without the Barkov/Huberdeau 1-2 punch. Huberdeau was turning random tweeners into ppg players.
Meanwhile Tkachuk has been playing with Barkov and not driving his own line. Tkachuk's numbers also fell off a cliff after Barkov got injured.

Only half his time/point was with Barkov
Tkachuk is legit, no matter how people here love to deny it after the trade
Panthers is terrible because of the defense and Bob

Not surprised at all to see Florida outside the playoffs a few of us said at the start of the year they looked like a team that wouldn't make it.
Awful depth on D and the forwards are underwhelming.
Plus they signed the Staal brothers lol. Eric wasn't even in the NHL last year.
Tkachuk went to change the culture in Florida. Glad he's enjoying sandals and golf carts beats the -40 weather.

IMO the hiring of Maurice was their biggest mistake. Like I said before just look at the Jets this season with a competent head coach. Maybe he gives a great interview and has coached a lot of games but he's a .500 head coach and that's what any team that hires him should expect.

Tkachuk said Maurice is the greatest coach he has ever played for. Great guy great coach just the best.
You can't fire him and upset your star player you just blew up the team to get.

Tkachuk is a master of dealing with the media - he will always say the right thing.
Like with Sutter, I file every thing that he says to the media under 'entertainment'.

It doesn't even matter if Tkachuk scores 150 points in the regular season. His problem is he can't bring it for the games in the playoffs.

Barkov is a beast. Not only does he lift those around them, he occupies the other teams defenders.
Tkachuk is obviously a great player, but Florida is clearly a worse team, and it's not just the defence.

Says the guy who constantly trashed him in the GT when he played for the Flames. Nobody thinks he is a bad player, great player but he is a poor skater that might not age well but that is IMO.
I still say it was a ridiculous trade to make for a team that just won the presidents trophy and made it to the second round losing to an absolute beast of a team. Teams the Avs and Tampa themselves had a few dominant regular seasons followed by playoff chokes...you need to stick with it.
I know someone will say Tkachuk is younger well great...but they already went all in with draft picks and now they are gonna miss the playoffs (likely by a lot) No first for years, no way to supplement the team. Maybe they can build something by the time Tkachuk is 30 but I'm not sure how well his legs age.
They could have signed Weegar/Huberdeau for less than it cost Calgary and had 3 or 4 legit runs at it...honestly I think they miss Weegar the most.
When you have a 120 point team you run it until the wheels fall off IMO...playoff series are weird, don't gut your team over a bad week. Christ Tampa got swept by CBJ, they didn't panic and ended up with multiple cups.

Gaudreau from +64 to -16 after 33 games
Around PPG and minus 30 something if his pace continues...maybe not a steal of a deal after all. That being said I bet he would be doing much better if he stayed team has a lot to do with it but that was his choice.

Florida messed up big time. You don't blow up a team that had 120 points.
Tampa added depth pieces that got them over the hump, they didn't trade Stamkos, Hedman, Kucherov.
Avs added depth pieces and didn't trade any stars either. They added to their d and found Makar a great fit with Toews
Even though our team went through significant change, Treliving didn't go into the offseason looking to blow the team up he was looking to add some missing pieces. Those guys would be much better off if they stayed in Calgary, but egos golf carts and sandals got in the way.
The Flames are fighting for a playoff spot, while Florida is in a bad position and the Jackets are the Jackets. I know which team I would rather be on.

His move was an all round unmitigated disaster for him and almost every stakeholder connected to him.

Good. The dweeb might not make another playoffs series unless he gets traded out of Columbus.
Imagine if he went to NJ or NYI? loser.

was it though?
maybe if he really cared about winning
he secured a 7 year extension at 60~ million and is in reasonable proximity to his family
untimitigated disaster sounds like a stretch
if he was a high achiever I'd call it a flop .. but family and anonymity are at the forefront for him now
he would've done much better here and made more, but end of the day he didn't want it
