Kekalainen has never actually watched Laine or Puljujarvi! Has no clue who they are.
Aaron Portzline @Aportzline
#CBJ Kekalainen won't even describe Laine's or Puljujuarvi's games, lest he tip his hand. "Somebody will have to tell you after the draft."
Big difference between Gio and Iggy. Gio is going to be 33 on a team full of 20-25 year old players.
When Iggy was 33 all the best players were in a similar age bracket
Seriously. People are aware that teams are allowed to keep players over the age of 27, right? Not everyone has to be traded just because they're at peak value.

That's how I've managed to be successful in NHL15.
Winning formula right there.

Gio captained this team through all the growing pains, I want him to hoist the cup for this group.

Kekalainen said he has offers on the table to move down in the order. On Wednesday he said he'd spoken to 10 teams that are interested in No. 3 pick, but he made it clear on Thursday that he won't trade out of the top 10.
"We're getting some serious and real offers right now," Kekalainen said, noting the difference between two GMs making proposals and having a hard, on-the-table offer. "We're making sure we have them all lined up so that we can compare them and see what the best one is and whether it's worth consideration
. "I've talked to every team in the top 10. We've got their interest in what they want to do. We have a pretty good idea for what everybody's intentions are, what it might take and what they might offer if they want to move up to three."
Kekalainen reiterated on Thursday that a trade will happen only after Toronto and Winnipeg have made their picks, which indicates that the Blue Jackets aren't exactly smitten with one of the presumed top three picks.

Imagine how crummy it will feel for Puljujarvi when Columbus doesn't trade the pick and then selects him knowing they aren't really that into him.
At this point I'd say it's a near certainty that they trade the pick. The comments Kekalainen made yesterday about talking to every team in the top-10 about trading down, and having all of the offers laid out in front of him so that they can decide which is best, sounds to me like his mind is made up. Assuming Matthews/Laine go #1/#2.
Theoretically, imagine if Laine fell to third and Columbus was still willing to trade. The value of the pick would change dramatically for some potential trading partners.
Somehow I think that everything will go as we've thought it would before the current media show. I'd love to know who is injecting what information into it. At least they've managed to turn what seemed like a boring 1-2-3 into something exciting.

Happy 27th birthday, its time for the carousel

Craig Custance @CraigCustance
Seth Jones camp and Blue Jackets meeting today to try and get a deal done. Jones is RFA.
Darren Dreger @DarrenDreger
@CraigCustance. Very likely @CAAHockey waits until after July 1. Gauge price of top d. Offer sheet is still a threat.
If they did, its probably logical that they have to go to the upper band because Columbus will just match.
And if the Oilers do the upper band of lets say 7 to 9 million bucks and keep Nurse, and Drai and McDavid, they're completely fracked salary cap wise when they basically add 17 to 19 million bucks in the next 2 years to sign those three.
Because nobody is taking Hall, Eberle or RNH without sending salary back to the Oilers.
Plus the Oilers losing all of those draft picks would be awesome.
The Oilers can't afford to go nuts with offer sheets or even UFA signings without gutting what little depth they do have.
