Confirmed running total of donations to the Red Cross from CP'ers:
$5365 $6390!!!
Again, not including those who wished to keep their donation amounts private. Keep up the great work, guys!

Please forgive me for inquiring where the money may be going---and I'm sorry (well, not really) for apparently insulting your feelings on the matter. I get the desire to help others, and to do *something* now, but I've been around long enough to know that the Red Cross (and other charitable organizations) will claim that the money donated will go to one purpose, only to then back away later and "reallocate" the funds to something altogether.
And so before I give some money, I'd certainly like to know where it is going.

You literally said you hope your money isn't going to help some tsunami relief in Singapore or something as if they wouldn't need help.
Pretty messed up man.
Your money is going to the Red Cross so that they can help people in need, regardless of which imaginary lines they live in between.
Anyways, lets leave this thread for news.

If they won't help out, tell me where to drop stuff off.
I have a little girl at home. We'd be happy to go shopping for a birthday gift for the 3 year old and something for the 5 year old and donate it.

So, it's time for that friendly reminder that this thread needs to stay on topic.

MMF please post information on the kids I have a 9yr old daughter and 5yr old son.
If there is anything I can provide I will.
Also, is there anything the parents need for clothing/necessities as well?

I guess I didn't mention what I upped at earlier. *deleted*. I had my eye on something I wanted... realized I didn't really need it.
On a side note, has there been any news about organizations needing physical help? Something similar to the food sorting at the food bank during holidays for the items they're receiving for FMM?

I'll second this.
I have Lego VIP points that need spending, can't think of a better way to do so.

polak man, just retract your post. It was out of line. The guy asked a legitimate question about giving to organizations and where the money goes.

Ottawa and Edmonton are matching this, and many of the companies the donors work for as well. (which will also be matched by Ottawa and Edmonton).
