Haven't read through the 25 pages but great thread!
Mine's Axis and Allies Global. Unfortunately its so big and epic and really needs multiple players I rarely get to play it. I used to play at my previous work at breaks in a room we were given. Was awesome.

Quarriors! Coming to iPad
WizKids Games has just announced that the dice-building game, Quarriors!, is coming to iPad in November. Yes, the month that starts tomorrow. The game appears to only include the original game at this point, with no expansions. It will have solo play as well as pass-and-play and online multiplayer for 2-4.

I have that. It is a good version of the board game. What I don't like - when playing the AI, the bots make numerous trade offers, and you waste a lot of time declining their trades.

Rated 7.6/10 here:

Can you play with no AI? Just local play? I am headed to Europe today and the person I'll be travelling with loves Settlers so I think this would be a lot of fun.

I have a line on the entire Zombicide set for well less than retail

It's a large chunk of change for a board game though...

I'm looking for someone to talk me into buying it, haha

Aye.

I ended up buying the base set from Amazon. I couldn't justify buying the whole thing at once, even at a discount.

Unboxed the base Zombicide game last night. I'm pretty impressed with the components with the exception of the character sheets.

There isn't a lot of game for $90, but the models are where a lot of the cost comes from... so if you appreciate that you won't have a problem with it.

The game itself seems pretty straight forward and appears to play like a run-and-gun + roll a bunch of dice until we die style of game. That's not to say it lacks strategy, but it certainly won't compare to the level of strategy involved in other popular games.

The game comes with 10 or so missions to fit any size playgroup and skill/level of experience. There's also the opportunity for self-made scenarios!

All and all, I think this will be a great game to play with people who want a more light-hearted game (as most co-op games are) with the desire to have a blast and tell a story. I think it is best described as an "advanced" beer and pretzels game, so take that for what it's worth to you!

It reminds me of Hero Quest, except without the Game Master. Simple mechanics, hack-and-slash style, customizable scenarios and lots room to make the game what YOU want it to be.

So... who wants to play?

We did the tutorial at lunch and included our noob admin because of her love for the walking dead and it was a lot of fun.

You're totally right that it's a light game - perfect for the non hardcore strategy gamers at work (we have Game of Thrones for that)

I was thinking about your question re: playing at work.

I suppose if you had a longer scenario, you could just pack the game away somewhere and break out the 2nd half the next day.

Or play/make one hour long scenarios

Lords of Waterdeep is a nice quick game to play, but my only complaint is the lack of interaction between players. Everyone pretty much plays their own game. Besides mandatory quests their is little you could do to slow down other players.

I've only played it a few times, but I think there are other things you can do to frustrate your opponents - the intrigue cards allow you to do things like steal resources from other players. You can try to block others from placing workers where they might want to. You could clear the quest pile of cards that other players might like.

Try and force others to take your buildings.

It's hard to know for sure what bonuses the other players are working towards, but you can make a good guess.

It's the lack of interaction that makes it a hit at my house.

Mrs Rathji hates games as conflict riddled as Settlers of Catan. That robber is pretty mean.

The IP suit is annoying, but hopefully if this Kickstarter gets shut down, Milton Bradley and Games Workshop realize how much people want this game. I've been offered a lot of money for my copy from random people I've played with.

I'd buy in a heartbeat.
