That was more or less expected. They've been getting results but Newcastle, like Palace, seems to have their number lately and that match against Swansea didnt inspire tons of confidence. Lots of possession but no decisiveness.

Pretty good results this weekend.

I didn't get a chance to watch today, but it still surprises me. I thought that things had turned quite a bit for Liverpool and I also thought Newcastle was brutal.

While things have turned somewhat, its still the same team. As I said, Newcastle sort of has their number. This season is pretty well shot for Liverpool, the only saving grace is that no one else has really stepped up and grabbed the bull by the horns leaving a potential CL spot available.

Hell, I hope Leicester wins it. Probably the best team to watch in the League right now.

Other than Chelsea, they're a blast to watch but in the 'watching an Oilers game' way.

Why are we bombing ISIS? If we want to stop them from attacking we should just put Van Gaal in charge of them.

I remember when Swansea beat United and everyone was talking about Garry Monk as a future big club manager. 3 months later...he's fired.

Quote:
Swansea City has today reluctantly parted company with manager Garry Monk.

With the recent uncertainty surrounding the club, the decision has been made in the best interests of Swansea City Football Club and its supporters.

Swansea City Chairman, Huw Jenkins, confirmed: “The decision has been made very reluctantly and with a heavy heart.

“To find ourselves in our current situation from where we were in the first week of September, and considering the drop of performance levels and run of results over the last three months, it has brought us to this unfortunate decision today.

“Garry took on the job 22 months ago with the backing of everyone at the club. And when you take into account the excellent campaign we had last season when we broke all club records in the Premier League, nobody foresaw the position we would be in at this moment in time.

“Bearing that in mind and the current uncertainty around the club, we felt the situation needed clarity to move forward.

You know, thats a shame. I think he did great work with Swansea, he just didnt have anyone getting goals. Swansea are a solid team but they just dont have any goals in them.

yeah, he was a beast during that one season. No idea what happened then, that was a crazy decline.

Sad to see Monk fired. Just another example of how quickly things can change in football ... from one of the brightest young managers in European top leagues to being fired within a few months.

I wouldn't be shocked if Rodgers returned now.

They could hold him up to the fans and play 'The Circle of Life' through the PA system.

so it seems one of the more realistic candidates for the Swansea job is ... Ryan Giggs.

Quote:
Swansea City are keen to assess Ryan Giggs’s managerial intentions before making a final decision on the identity of Garry Monk’s successor at the Liberty Stadium, The Independent can reveal.

Giggs, currently acting as Louis van Gaal’s assistant manager at Manchester United, has made no secret of his desire to pursue a career in management. The 42-year-old is widely regarded as one of the leading candidates to succeed Van Gaal at Old Trafford when the Dutchman’s contract expires at the end of the 2016-17 campaign.

But Swansea are determined to investigate every possible option, and the Welsh club are understood to be ready to speak to Giggs about replacing Monk in the event that the former Wales international is prepared to consider leaving United to begin his managerial career.

The club’s chairman, Huw Jenkins, is open-minded about potential appointments, but the prospect of luring Giggs to Swansea would be regarded as a major coup and would also fit the Jenkins blueprint of hiring emerging coaches who favour attacking football.
http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/f...-a6768426.html

Giggs seems to be interested as well.

Quote:
Manchester United assistant Ryan Giggs is understood to be open to leaving Old Trafford to begin his career in management, amid interest from Swansea.

Giggs, 42, has spoken on countless occasions about his desire to forge a career in management and took charge of United's last four games of the 2013-14 season in the aftermath of David Moyes' sacking.

The United great has been a member of the club's coaching staff for two-and-a-half years and, although he would be a candidate to replace Louis van Gaal when his contract runs out at the end of the 2016-17 season, Giggs is prepared to sacrifice that opportunity to become a manager elsewhere.

Swansea, who dismissed Garry Monk on Wednesday, are open to the idea of speaking to Giggs about managing the team currently 15th in the Premier League table.

As a United fan, I think that'd be a brilliant move in every aspect. I hope it happens.
