Latest video. So much of this just looks aweful. Something about the proportions, shapes...I get an awkward feeling just looking at it. Bet that windshield isn't cheap to replace. The rear visibility looks pretty poor, too. Maybe they'll have a rear view camera instead of mirror.
Having the charge door on the rear fender might seem like a creative solution, but I dunno how great an idea that is in winters. Salty mucky spray all the time...but I guess that's not of huge concern for a vehicle designed in the southern US.
So is it just my Tesla biases, or is this thing ####ing ugly, and I'm maybe right to question how many they will sell?

I don't know. I am no Tesla fan, but it is at least not a boring-looking vehicle. When it gets to Saab levels of ugliness, then I'll take issue.
That said, I bet a stainless steel car is going to have a lot of drawbacks, like playground slide burns on a sunny day, and actually keeping that thing looking nice. The best approach I think is letting it get scuffed and dinged so any little one doesn't draw the eye. Otherwise, tell me where I can buy stock in Bartender's Friend.
I just want to say that the Apple Music app is still total garbage in these vehicles and every new update seems to fix bugs while creating a new bugs in the process. No automaker fails at infotainment like Tesla. It's such a paradox of a vehicle as in some areas it's cutting edge and others like the music interface it's like going back in time 20 years.
I think this sums up my thoughts on the Cybertruck quite well.

This is a significant bit of news for the auto industry. For the first time, a pure electric car is at the top of global sales rankings.#And it could only be a Tesla.#Yes, JATO data for 53 markets worldwide, plus information for other key markets and estimates for others, indicate that the#Tesla Model Y#was the world's best-selling car in the first quarter of this year.

I just wish we had Spotify in the monthly enhanced connectivity package instead of that other dumb music app. They have Spotify in Europe.
Be interesting to see how long they can keep sales up. They haven't been able to sell everything from their Shanghai plant in China(huge market, so maybe a worry) and have been sending them to Europe. They'll now also send them to Canada, because they qualify for the rebates here, but not in the US. I question why we would do that, but that's a different issue...
They also really stuffed this quarter for sales, so will see second quarter numbers.
In other news, the interior of the Cybertruck is super duper boring.
Yup, all pretty believable stuff if you read Tesla forums. FSDbeta is a total mess, and no where near close to being safe or functional enoguh to release. If I were an investor, I think now, before the disastrous CT is released, would be a good time to sell.

It's all been done before with the DeLorean. Apparently scouring pads did a good job fixing any scratches and scuffs.

Tesla will continue to be the top selling EV outside of China for some time, but their market share will continue to shrink. The reason Tesla cannot fail big here is that the EV market is growing exponentially and OEMs simply aren't up to the task. Even their most aggressive plans to switch are all way behind brand new start ups in China. Lots of people won't want to buy Chinese make cars so that leaves Tesla and the small number of models the OEMs have prepared.
Prior to 2020, China had never cracked the top 20 in vehicle exports. By 2021, they were 17th by volume. Last year they came in second. This year they're the largest exporter of vehicles and their lead is growing fast. People can say all they want that they'll never drive a Chinese car, but then people said the same thing about Japanese cars before they became the largest exporter. The reality is Tesla has most of the "non Chinese" company market for itself because it's production capacity is just so much better than the OEMs because they're too late to the game.
The fsd is a red herring because almost all fsd subscriptions are to a bunch of tech nerds and not their average consumer anymore. It's the icing on their cake but they make enough on the cake you can scrape the icing off and they'll be fine. Other manufacturers now make cars as good or better than Tesla from a consumer satisfaction perspective, but they're losing money on them because they need to pour all their money into new production lines, R&D, and pension/severance. It's not looking good for most OEMs. Toyota is going to go from largest OEM to minor player over the next ten to fifteen years because they've stomped their feet and sold their soul to hydrogen

I don't agree at all with the above. ICE is still the dominant selling vehicle in North America so legacy automakers simply have to straddle the line of business as usual on the ICE side while putting their future development into EV's. Large automakers like GM, Ford, Toyota (global leader for solid state battery patents), Honda, Nissan, etc will do just fine and it's the smaller automakers like Mazda and Subaru (will likely get absorbed by Toyota) that don't have the resources to straddle the line successfully. Tesla is having its moment in time but I've seen no indication under Elon that they will ever shift to providing vehicles that match the quality, ease of use, and features that legacy models do. Even today Tesla just keeps removing more and more from their vehicles in the name of profits as it looks like they are going to go ahead and remove the physical stalks from the 3 and Y which is simply a terrible decision as more and more owners are getting tired of the inconveniences of ownership. I like my model 3 but there's no way I would buy another one given my frustrations with the infotainment system knowing that the new one will require me to use the screen to take the car out of park and into drive or reverse and using haptic button on the steering wheel for turn signals is simply a no go for me. Even the masses at Tesla forums are not okay with these changes but Elon's going to do it anyway and eventually there will be a day where people have had enough and that day is coming. I can't wait for my next car to have auto wipers that actually work and some may snicker at that but understand that with Tesla you are forced to use auto wipers with even basic cruise control so it's a constant nuisance that owners shouldn't have to put up with. There's just so many little nusances with these vehicles and it's astonishing how Tesla turns a blind eye to them but they do and there's no indication that their vehicles will ever ship with all the basic functions properly working as we are accustomed to with legacy automakers.
