He struggled after the first set. Belgium takes the opener. Peliwo is up next.

So I doubt anyone here (besides maybe Girly) has heard of Felix Auger Aliassime. Well he's Canadian, and he just became the youngest winner of a challenger main draw match ever...he's 14. Suffice to say he may have a very bright future and while it may be a few years away might be the great Canadian tennis hope.

He's been mentioned in this thread before hohohoho...
In March he was the first player ever born in the 00s to gain an ATP point. 5 points for qualifying for a Challenger.
Now he's qualified again (5 points) and won a main draw match (8 points)
So he now has 21 ATP points. That may not sound like a lot but 21 points gets him a ranking of around 840. We talk about Peliwo a lot, he's only got 64 points. Schnur has 53.

There's actually a number of names in this field that make you wonder why they'd bother playing. With the light week on tour I guess these guys want the matches as they get ready for the hardcourt.

Aliassime won again! He beat the Barbados guy ranked 198. He's in the QUARTERS! Got 10 more points.
He's got Nishioka next, ranked 143.

I mean you gotta figure he's now a lock to get a wildcard to the Rogers Cup, especially since it's going to be in Montreal. Becoming the story of the tennis world right now, would be insane to win a tournament at 14. Been a while since the mens (or womens game) had a true teen phenom, let's hope Felix is the one.
Also doing well in the women's challenger in Granby is Charlotte Robillard-Millette, only 16 and into the QFs as well. It's amazing to see the number of young talent in Canadian tennis right now. Jarring really compared to 10 years ago.

We're now seeing the product of the full time NTCs and the changes that were made to the structure of Tennis Canada about half a decade ago. The NJTPs are really making a difference too, for those players under 14 and are being fed into the main NTCs. Kudos to Tennis Canada and how they are managing the players.

He fell apart at the end. Really liked what I saw though, a real solid game.

Remember the all-Canadian final in Washington last year? Well there is a bit of a scheduling quirk this year as Raonic will lose 500 points and Pospisil 300 this week but the Washington 500 isn't until next week.
When removing those points Raonic will drop to #9 and Pospisil #48. Raonic isn't playing this week while Pospisil will try to make up some points by being the #2 seed in the ATP Atlanta 250.

The funny thing is you change one letter (STP Atlanta 250) and it sounds like a NASCAR race.

So Raonic is not in Washinton to defend his title. Ranking will drop to 10. Not liking where this is going.
Pospisil is there and is into the Round of 16.

Tough luck for Milos, but hopefully a strong run in the Masters 1000 event in Montreal can make up for losing 500 points in Washington. Also, let's go Vasek!

TORONTO - Vancouver's Vasek Pospisil was among seven Canadians awarded main-draw berths Wednesday for the Rogers Cup tennis tournaments.
Tennis Canada named Pospisil, Philip Bester, Frank Dancevic, and Filip Peliwo as wild-card entrants for the men's Rogers Cup, which starts Friday in Montreal.
Francoise Abanda, Gabriela Dabrowski, and Carol Zhao were given spots in the women's event, which begins Saturday in Toronto.
