35,000 tickets sold for the WCQ in Vancouver vs Mexico next month so far.

How many of those fans are Mexican is the big question.

Open the roof, and I hope it snows.

IIRC the CSA was restricting sales for the upper bowl to those with a Canadian address. Won't be 100% effective in keeping Mexican supporters away, but it will help a bit.

If anyone in town wants to watch the March 25 game we're setting up a watch party at Barcelona Tavern that night to watch it. I want to see the entire upper level full of red and white (and no green)

I hope it was semi-effective and didn't just make a bunch of scalpers really happy as they resold them all to Mexican fans.

The resale market had about 1500-2000 tickets when I checked before, if I recall correctly.

It's hard to know how many Mexican fans will show up, but considering the restrictions, and the big anticipation of walk ups, I think it should be at least 70% Canadian fans, I hope.

Should be fun next friday... looking forward to seeing the roster later this week. Hope to see Arfield play live for the first time

Such a huge game, while I think it's a big ask against such a tough team, I think 3 points would put their foot firmly in the door of the hex. 10 points should do it and it'll put them on 7 with 3 games to go. It should basically make their home game against El Salvador a one match playoff at home against a below average team for that spot.

Unless the Hondos sweep all 4 of their remaining games which is a longshot with away games in Mexico and El Salvador to come. But I guess we are talking about the CMNT, we used up all our luck for a few decades in that one gold cup win I think sometimes.

What is the latest on ticket sales? I know that they opened up the second level a while back, so it must be looking pretty good.

The new kit is out. IMO, it's not as nice as the 2015 kit, but still pretty nice. Love the dual coloured neckline. Indifferent on the vertical stripe. Hate the white ringed sleeves.

The roster for the squad against Mexico will be announced at 12:30 PM.

Roster is below. Scotty Arfield is the main addition, and a solid addition at that. Notable omissions include Osorio, Teibert and Bekker. Teibert is injured. Osorio's exclusion is not a surprise. Bekker simply isn't better than anyone else in midfield that was chosen.

Edit: And available in list form too:

1- GK- Simon Thomas | NOR / FK Bodø/Glimt
2- FB- Nik Ledgerwood | CAN / FC Edmonton
3- CB- Manjrekar James | HUN / Diósgyöri VTK
4- CB- Dejan Jaković | JPN / Shimizu S-Pulse
5- CB / M- David Edgar | ENG / Sheffield United
6- M- Julian de Guzman | CAN / Ottawa Fury FC
7- W- Iain Hume | ESP / SD Ponferradina
8- M- Will Johnson | CAN / Toronto FC
9- F- Marcus Haber | ENG / Crewe Alexandra
10- W- David Junior Hoilett | ENG / Queens Park Rangers
11- W- Tosaint Ricketts | Unattached
12- CB- Doneil Henry | ENG / West Ham United
13- M- Atiba Hutchinson | TUR / Beşiktaş JK
14- M- Samuel Piette | ESP / Deportivo La Coruña
15- CB / M- Adam Straith | NOR / Fredrikstad FK
16- M- Scott Arfield | ENG / Burnley FC
17- FB- Marcel De Jong | CAN / Ottawa Fury FC
18- GK- Milan Borjan | BUL / PFK Ludogorets Razgrad
19- CB- Steven Vitória | POR / Benfica
20- FB / CB- Karl W. Ouimette | USA / New York Red Bulls
21- F- Cyle Larin | USA / Orlando City SC
22- GK- Kenny Stamatopoulos | SWE / AIK Fotbol
23- W- Tesho Akindele | USA / FC Dallas

It's full strength... would have liked to see Cavallini too but he has got an ego bigger than his talent. Should be a good battle. Announced through a couple media sources that BC Place is sold out. 50k+ Hopefully it's not the V's, 20,000 quiet Vancouverites and 29K super loud Mexicans! A great home atmosphere would go a long way. I'm sure there are going to be at least a few thousand Mexican fans though.

Is the kit made of heavy cotton like the old crappy ones or did they decide to use synthetics like everyone else?

No idea to be honest. The 2015 version is synthetic.

Over 50000 tickets have been sold. Might be a sellout, and if so it would be the highest attended national team game on Canadian soil.

Also. Arfield said he made his choice a year ago and was just waiting on the paperwork to clear:

http://www.sportsnet.ca/soccer/scott...up-qualifying/

And if anyone here is interested in watching the games the supporters are hosting a watch party at Barcelona Tavern on Friday and Tuesday.

BC Place's capacity is 54,500, so I can only imagine that they'll sell out this week or with walk-ups. This is going to be great to see.

I swear that if we weren't hosting my wife's family's annual Good Friday dinner, I would have cashed in some air miles for this. At the very least I'll have some great after dinner entertainment to indulge in.

I have seen a couple of Whitecaps games at BC Place before, as although some don't like it, I found it to be quite interesting. Very bright and airy since the renovation, and you don't feel too far from the pitch. It is going to look great all filled up and red.

I hate how excited I get for these. If it doesn't go well, waiting until September is the worst.

I agree, I think it's an absolute pleasure to watch soccer in that stadium. Every time I go to Vancouver I time my trip so that I can catch a Whitecaps FC game. I love the space in there, it's incredibly comfy.

Canada shot themselves in the foot with that 0-0 draw in El Salvador. If we won that, we would almost be assured of qualification.

Now Honduras has Najar etc back in the team and roaring to go. Mexico most likely will beat us twice which will result in Canada having to get a result in Honduras in +35 heat mid day sun.

Me too. I don't post in this thread often but I get so amped up for these games. It's 2 days away and I couldn't be more excited!

If there's one thing I've learned from casually following this team, it's to never get your hopes up. Excited to watch them play on Friday, not expecting anything different than what I've seen in the last 26 years of my life. If they make the hex I might die though.
