The symbol is related to whatever goddess demon the cult is trying to awaken, or already has been?

I assumed the spiral was the portal that Rust saw in the caves...although that could have been an hallucination.

This show gets dumber by the episode.

How exactly does the Coast Guard find her sister in an hour in the ocean in the middle of the night and know her identity?

Why is Priors wife so unreasonably angry?

She gets wasted (an seems to have no issue with drunk driving) and drives around on Christmas, after arresting someone and having a #### fit about it in the first episode? Cmon.

FYI, because of the Super Bowl, episode 5 is available to stream early on Crave (and Max in the US).

Terrific episode. I'm still not sure if 6 episodes is enough to tell this story, but they moved the plot along at a nice pace in that one, and it feels like they're definitely heading towards a conclusion now. The last episode should be a doozy.

I’m in until the end. But it’s so bad. Really should not have True Detective attached to it.

I recently binged the first season, and I enjoyed it, but... I don't get the hype. People talk about how it is among the greatest seasons of television ever made and I just don't see it. It was good, don't get me wrong, but the GOAT? Eh...

Spoiler!

I thinknit was episode 4 or 5 where the entire scene was one shot through an entire neighborhood. That was a high mark moment in T.V filming. Won awards for it. There's reasons beyond the acting and chesticles and just a dang good plot line.

That was definitely when the series "got good" to me. The first few episodes were otherwise a slow burn that didn't seem to be going anywhere.

Again, I'm not saying it was bad by any means, just not the best TV show of all time.

I think a lot of the attention for season 1 came from the performances - most people thought of Matthew McConaughey as more a pretty-boy rom-com actor before then and his performance generated a lot of talk.

I recently rewatched season 1, and it is legit good television. The story was great. The character development and acting was great. They managed to blend in the supernatural elements in a way that you weren't sure if they were there or not but still had rational explanations.

I was genuinely convinced that we were getting something similar with season 4 after the first 2 episodes....then it got not as good.

Season 4 is setting ratings records and has increased with each episode.

So, a good branding decision to connect it to True Detective. It otherwise to me carries no resemblance in writing or quality to the original. Hell, even to the third season.

I'm enjoying it, but it reminds me more of the X-Files than True Detective, especially with all the supernatural elements and the weird stuff with the frozen corpses. Seriously, just swap out Danvers/Navarro for Mulder/Scully, and you've got a pretty decent 6-episode arc of the OG series from the 90s.

Well, ok then.

Some closure I guess, move onto the next series and don’t look back.
