Giordano - Andersson
Valimaki - Pietrangelo
Mackey - Kylington
Yes, please. Pietrangelo would take pressure off Gio in needing to be the go-to guy on D, would be a huge add for leadership, and but there would be spots to give our young defensemen a chance to flourish. Pairing him with Valimaki could be huge for Valimaki's development.
It probably won't happen but just let me dream.

I think this is the first off season where we have a legit chance at landing the three top free agents. This is pretty exciting even if nothing happens.

I don’t mean land all three, just a legit chance at any of them.

Pietrangelo is looking for 9.5 isn’t he? That is guaranteed toxic down the line.
I would be fine going 7x8 for both Hall and Pietrangelo and then 6x5 for Markstrom.
The team currently has 16.9M in cap space. They need $22M alone for those 3. If Treliving can move out Gaudreau, Ryan, Hanifin, Rittich that makes up $17.6 so 34.5M in space.
The rest of the roster would have to be bargain bin shopping but I think there will be some great adds that could be had for cheap this offseason as I could see a lot of RFA’s not get qualified league wide and cheap show me deals available.

This is the kind of cynicism earned by years of fandom. You love to see it.

As soon as I read it I slipped over to CapFriendly to see how it could work and came up with this. I have Ryan and Rittich being moved to anyone willing to give up a pick for them. I brought back Janko as a UFA because with moving Ryan we need a C that can PK. I also forgot to flip-flop Chucky and Johnny
Spoiler for size

Is it just me, or does it seem like fewer goalies in general have lengthy peaks anymore? It seems like most decent goalies have maybe 4 or 5 seasons where they are truly at their best. Very few seem to last being starters for 10 years like they used to.
There is always a flavor of the week now.

Vasilevskiy off the top of my head, likely to be good for a while.
Hart probably has a solid shot, just getting going.
Beyond that Price would have probably been amazing since his debut with a better team in front of him.

Gibson to some extent. Stuck behind a bad team
Rask qualifies
Quick had a good long stretch

I think it is in part because of how close everything is. The difference between a good and bad season is not that big of a gap.
Based on a 1500 shot against season (the reasoning for that number is it works out to 30 shots against per game for 50 games), this means the difference between a .of .015 is 22.5 goals over their 50 game season.
That was the difference between Vasilevskiy and Mike Smith this past season.
