The steam deck has been a pretty good idea from Steam tbh. Everything else being equal, I would have bought stuff on Steam before Epic already. With a deck, I am all that more inclined to lean to Steam even that much more for ease.
Just finished Slay the Princess, an indie horror(ish) game, and really liked it.
The mechanics are basically "choose your own adventure", but it's got nice graphics and good voice acting, it's quite well written and just overall very well done, a fun and quite satisfying experience to play. I giggled out loud quite a few times and some of the horror is pretty creepy.
It's all about the meta(narrative), which I'm generally not a huge fan of, but it worked very nicely here.
It's not very expensive (about 16€ on Steam) and I would recommed going into it with very little prior knowledge. Took me about 4 hours to get two different endings so not a huge time commitment. I'll likely give it at least one more playthrough.
So, would recommend checking it out. It's got excellent reviews and was recommended on Second Wind (which is how I found it). Might become one of those indie games everyone talks about in a year.

I've been playing Powerwash Simulator on Gamepass but I bought it on Steam to make it easier to play on SteamDeck. I was hoping to transfer my save data over but they're not compatible. I found a script that will convert Gamepass saves but only certain games are supported. Screw you, Microsoft!
Seriously. I go out of my way to pay for games and they do stuff like this. They used to hide the game files in a folder you couldn’t access so you couldn’t even find out how much space they were taking. They finally started letting you install to a normal folder but this obfuscated save game crap is so annoying.
Luckily I don’t mind starting from the beginning again all that much.

That's a developer problem, sadly.
If the developer wanted to make it easy to port save-games between platforms, they would.

I've been porting saved games between Gamepass and Epic every day to play with different groups of friends on Remnant 2. Some games are easy, some are complicated.
They should just support cloud saves with cross platform but yes, that's a developer problem.
Finished Jedi Survivor, really enjoyed it. Hope they keep making them.
Just wrapped it too and thought it was great. Nice improvement over the original. Will definitely be going back to clean it up and finish all the side missions.

Is it? I don’t see why developers should use resources when it looks like Microsoft is doing it for every game.
They're doing it for games that exist both on PC (Microsoft Store) and Xbox console because it's easy for the same ecosystem: PC and Xbox can leverage the same cloud game sync functionality, and the storage / folder hierarchy are identical between the two -- if you've ever seen the cryptic and annoying naming convention for an MS Store game/app, this is the same way it gets stored on the Xbox internal storage.
Devs could build something into the PC version that allows import/export of saved games or some other option that enables Steam/Epic versions to discover saved games of their MS Store counterparts, but I wonder if the risk there is cheating and importing those saved games to the MS Store version, which will sync the cloud save, then using that hacked savegame on the console.
Annoyingly, there is literally a 'C:\Users\[user]\Saved Games\' folder in your profile. I have lost count how many games I have installed on this machine, and checking that folder, there is literally one folder / game in that location: CD Projekt Red, for my Cyberpunk 2077 save. That's it.
I get that it's frustrating, but consider using an app on your iPhone that you also use on an Android device like a tablet (or hell, just another phone). Only apps that use a common datasource across platforms are able to 'share' data. Otherwise, that favourite game of yours isn't syncing your progress between platforms unless the devs have added a way of doing so outside of what Google and Apple (GameCenter) provide for savegame data.

Too lazy to see if it has already been talked about, but bought Vampire Survivors on sale for my SteamDeck... OMG that game owns my life now LOL.
It's a surprisingly enjoyable new genre. I would also check out Halls of Torment, Death Must Die, Baoneraiser Minions, and Nomad Survival. You know, if you are retired and have no life responsibilities.

I don't know what to do after Gallo Tower. I can't seem to unlock any more levels. I could google it, but maybe the CP braintrust could give me a hint without majorly spoiling it.
