However, although an option to buy Aquilani for £13 million was included as part of the loan, it appears Juve are keen to negotiate a reduced fee, and Dalglish has suggested he would be happy to see the midfielder return to Anfield in the summer.
Personally, I dont see it. Theres been no evidence that he even wants to come back, he'd probably much rather stay home. Hes a good player, but hes injured far too often and quite frankly, I dont think he likes playing in England or that its not a good fit for him.
He is the type of player that we need in the midfield, a playmaking midfielder, but at the same time he has to play centrally, can he displace Stevie or Raul? Complement them? Granted, at the moment my biggest criticisms of the squad if they want to play in Europe is depth.
Quote:
Liverpool midfielder Raul Meireles has been named the ESPN PFA Fans' Player of the Year, an award voted for by Premier League supporters.
A dominant and dynamic box-to-box midfielder, Meireles has emerged as a key figure for Dalglish's Liverpool and his excellent work-rate, range of passing and ability to make himself a nuisance in the opposition's penalty area should see him continue to shine next season.
Jovanovic stressed that he believed the departure of Benitez had been the key factor in his failure to settle at Anfield.
"My only regret is that the coach who brought me to Anfield left the club even before my arrival," he said. "If Rafa Benitez would have stayed in Liverpool I believe everything would be different for me.
"There were 15 other clubs which followed me, but I chose Liverpool and made a mistake."
Yeah, sorry, but if he were any good at something it wouldnt be a problem. I see him and Maxi and probably Poulson on their way out at the end of the season. We need a wide player, and he wants to be a central striker. If you want to be a central striker and cant beat out Ngog for a job then its time to pack your bags.

Ya I can't see any way that Aqua man comes back. Him and his agent have repeatedly said that he wants to stay in Italy. Kenny isn't going to want to have a guy on this squad that doesn't want to be here. I think this is just a ploy to get Juventus to meet his asking price.
I actually feel a bit bad for Jovanovic. He really didn't get much of a chance here, but that is mainly just because he is not good enough. He is simply too slow to make a difference on the field.
Aquilani pretty well says he doesnt want to come back. Granted, not in so many words, but he keeps repeating that he wants to stay at Juve. Thats fine with me. I dont think theres any way that Kenny takes him back if he doesnt want to be there, but at the same time, Juve have to come up with the cash. If they want to keep him its going to cost them $13M, and they're going to have to cough it up.

Seriously, how good is Suarez? Man of the match, imo, in a match where Liverpool win 5-0 and he doesn't even score. (Sure Maxi got MOM, just like Dirk did, for his treble but he really wasn't). Luis Suarez is class personified.
Brilliant signing, absolutely brilliant!
Love the likes of Flanagan, Robinson, Spearing getting starts and doing really well. Kenny has turned this club around on it's head.
Suarez again with one hell of a game. That guy is in his office on the goal line with seemingly no room to go anywhere and yet he constantly makes something happen.
We're in for one hell of a season next year I think with guys like Kuyt being reborn, and Suarez just making things happen for anyone.
I'm still of the opinion that I'd rather Liverpool not be in the Europa league, not as any form of disrespect for that competition, but rather because I dont feel the squad has the requisite depth for an additional competition, they really need to just focus on the league.

I think we will add a lot of depth by the start of next season though.
If I've added this up right (it's late) Liverpool, under Dalglish, have gone 9-3-3 since he took over. (30 points out of 45) That's really impressive form. Thank goodness that King Kenny came back.
Really looking forward to seeing how this all unfolds.
The Finland centre-back won the Champions League, UEFA Cup, League Cup and FA Cup (twice) in his time on Merseyside and in 2006 was recognised by the club's fans as the 38th best Reds player of all time.
Hyypia announced that he intends to hang up his boots at a press conference on Monday, though he will continue to work at Leverkusen as an assistant coach and will also become No. 2 to Finland boss Mixu Paatelainen.
noticed that earlier when I saw that he was trending on Twitter more than "god bless America". Class, and they once said he has a job at Anfield if he ever wants it.

Alberto Aquilani's permanent move to Juventus could be in doubt after the Italian club's general manager, Giuseppe Marotta, said they would not pay Liverpool's asking price of £16 million.
The 26-year-old has been a success in Turin and both player and club are eager to convert the season-long loan into a permanent deal.
"There is a buy-out clause that has to be activated by May 15," Marotta told Sky Sport Italia. "We'll try to reach an agreement before the deadline. I can certainly say we will not sign Aquilani for the sum set by Liverpool."
The player wants to stay and the club want to keep him but they dont want to pay for him. I hope Liverpool gives them the big FU and haul him back to Merseyside. If you dont pay the buy out fee, a clause they agreed to when it was negotiated in, then tough, hes a Liverpool player and he'll be brought back.
And if he doesnt want to play for Liverpool, which by all indications he doesnt, then thats great, they can sell him on to another club that will actually pay for him.
I hate the entitlement some clubs have, Barcelona are the worst, but some clubs like Juve arent any better.
"He wants to play here, and not for you, and we want him to play here so we shouldnt have to pay." Why? What makes them feel like they should be entitled to the player for free? I dont understand that.

Their loss if they don't wanna pay. No way Kenny or NESV would compromise the situation in any way. If he ends up wanting to be a wanker about it, I'm sure there are other Italian clubs that would consider paying it when you take in account the year he just had.

So, whats the vibe around here? It looks like Spurs have given up on fifth, but, a win today and the boys are within 4 points of 4th.
I think City can choke it away, if you look at it, the run in is pretty similar. If Spurs could do us two favours, beat City and then lose to us it would be neck and neck.
I cant imagine being back in the Champion's League after the season we've had. If Liverpool somehow squeak into 4th you'd have to think City and Spurs would have to be furious with themselves.

While I obviously have no love for Liverpool, the apocalyptic meltdown that would occur for City would be unrivaled entertainment for all to enjoy for years to come.
Spurs win
Stoke double (this alone would be entertainment enough)
Draw with Bolton (very late equalizer by Bolton)
Liverpool win out but...
Late winner against Villa deep in added time. Controversial winner would be the best (clear offside, penalty, in Kenny time () or any combination thereof) but anything will do.
