So Lyle Overbay was just named the American League Player of the Week.
We're not sure if there are any particular prizes that go along with such an accolade. But getting to hit ahead of Kevin Millar against a right handed pitcher might be a nice start.

So I guess this is one of those games SN isn't playing on our channel so we buy the other SN channels?
Holy frack that's pissing me off. Bite me Sportsnet. Bite me hard.

Does anyone else think Overbay looks like Ed Begley Jr.

Is that why they do it?
I ask only because outside of CP I don't know anybody in "real" life who is a Jays fan in Western Canada. So I figured that Sportsnet realized that they don't need to play Jays games every day on SNW because the Jays really aren't the "hometeam" out west and other fans would tune into to watch their team play as much as they would to watch another Jays game.
Now obviously there is a huge Jays following on CP but I wonder what others have found in baseball fans that they know in Western Canada.
I know a lot of Cubs, Red Sox, Yankees, Astros, Mariners fans but I can't think of anyone who is a Jays fan that lives in Alberta.

I play a lot of slo-pitch and know a lot of guys who not only are Jays fans, but actually watch games on a consistent basis.

I'm not out west right now, but I have spent most of my life in Alberta and will return there someday soon. I am a Blue Jays fan; as for others...well I didn't know many baseball fans at all out west, so I'm afraid that I'm not much help in that regard.

Most guys I talk to are Jays fan more than anything else. I know baseball isn't huge out here and as such you get people following all sorts of teams - but there's no question the Jays are the most followed club out here.
Up until this year SN would broadcast games across all the channels - except for the odd time when they would drop the Jays in favor of a late Mariner's game. But in general you could count on seeing 90% of Jays broadcasts.
This year - during the week it seems like we don't get well over half unless we get the other SN channels.

Well seeing how passionate people get about the Jays fans on CP I shouldn't be surprised that there are others out there in Alberta.
Perhaps because I am not a Jays fan myself I don't notice them as much or it is Lethbridge which seems to be a hodge podge of sports fans in any sport.
I just never noticed anyone who liked the Jays amongst the sports fans that I know.

No, I like Wells, works his butt off but isn't a cleanup hitter and never has been. I bet he would get on a hot streak if he was hitting fifth or sixth.

Yes its only 2.95 with Shaw. You can just cancel it after ball, if you want. I believe they give you both Pacific and West for one price.
Its worth it I just got it tonight, tomorrows game will also only be on Pacific/Ontario. We get the A's and Rays lol.

I just ticks me off that they've chosen to handle it this way. I actually regularly subscribe to the other channels during hockey season - and cancel during summer. The cost doesn't concern me - its the way they've gone about it.

So who was watching that 6th inning and thinking here we go again. Getting the benefit of the call on that whacky missed squeeze play ended up being a bit of a turning point. What a crazy inning though, one booted ball by Hill, than that play with Scutaro although I don't think he could have got the out at second. Than the strike out on a Wild pitch and another one hit at Hill that he couldn't quite handle. So to come out with a win to open up a series on the road when you go through that. Not so bad given how that last road trip went.

Ha so funny you mention that inning. Campbell and Tabler had just talked about how Janssen had just done everything asked for him then he started throwing 2-0 and looked afraid to pitch in the strike zone, then Hill misses a bloop, and then Scutaro has a weird play, but the Jays managed to get out still up a run, which IMO is good managing.
Love Frasor, League still makes me nervous, and Downs is money. Best infield in the Al, IMO, worst centerfielder/cleanup hitter in the league.

Ya still ranked one of the lowest producing players in the AL.
