Had Johnson not grounded into that double play, could've been the 1st lead of the night for the Jays. Then again who knows if Rios would've hit it out...hopefully the Jays pen is on tonight
Beane has defintley set himself up for a few more moves, getting Kendals contract unloaded.

Yeah, but since the Cubs traded Barret I think Henry Blanco is their main catcher. So the Cubs did need a catcher of some type and Kendell can do that for them.

Although I will give credit to Kendall for doing wonders to the A's pitching staff - or at least according to his interview on Rome, where he credits his own game calling ability.

13 million
Paid 5 by the Pirates, 8 by the A's. The A's sent cash along so Kendall will have three teams paying his salary.
He's an upgrade over Blanco, although I was hearing they were trying to pry Hernandez out of Baltimore. That would have been a much bigger upgrade, but costlier one.

um, he can throw out baserunners (which would be a nice change), and the A's are picking up a bunch of his salary. jeez, get over zaun, he's brutal.

I didn't say anything about Zaun! Anyways, Kendall is the worst offensive catcher in the majors this season by a fair margin of those who qualify with enough ABs.

unreal. What a crappy way to lose. Accardo was not sharp, Janssen wasn't great either. I really hate the Yankees.

Maybe, but his 226 batting average is about 80 points higher than any Cubs catcher currently has. Nowhere near what he used to be, but he is an upgrade for them so long as he can avoid getting into fights with Zambrano and can keep that pitching staff throwing the way they have been. Ironically since the Cubs dumped off Barret they've been playing great so maybe Zambrano wasn't the only pitcher who didn't like him.

Yeah, more brilliant situational hitting by the Jays. Slowest guy on the team up with runners on 1st and 3rd and Phillips grounds into the predictable double play. What a useless player.
