The Rams loss hurt. They should have pushed in the TD but instead went conservative. I didn't see the loss to the Pack, but before the season the 49ers were picked to be last in the NFC by more than a few people, so even with these losses the season has felt like a success.
The last 2 weeks really showed the 49ers lack of depth in the secondary, specifically the corners. Shawntae Spencer came back last night after going out in the last Seahawk tilt, and SF put 2 CBs on the IR this week.

If the Niners have a strong draft they will definitely have a shot at winning the NFC West next year.

In terms of skilled positions the Niners have a really good future. Smith, Gore, Davis, Bryant on offense all are going to be stars. They also have a ton of cap space along with finally an attractive team for players to come too that another good draft and a few quality FA's and this team really could be good next year.

This may be the first time in years the Colts have actually faced some regular season conteversy. It could actually be a good thing for this team, since last year was basically an easy ride until the playoffs. It's going to be very intresting to see if Peyton can step up Monday and really lead this team

I don't understand what's wrong with Indy's D. On paper it's a respectable group of players.

They have smaller quicker rush ends like Freeney, so it's much easier to dominate them on the line, and they really miss Corey Simon, who was solid vs. the run.

I admit that I don't know the niners all that well. But I do see some similarities in the team they're getting together now and the early 90's Cowboys. Highly touted QB who has a tough first year, but things start coming together in year 2. Good running back, go to wide receiver, and a solid tight end. The offensive pieces look to be there, and another draft or two and they might get the defence in place too. IIRC Aikman was 1-15 his first year, and 7-9 the second and 11-5 the next year. Niners were what 3-13 or 4-12 last year and look like a 7-9 or 8-8 team this year. Who knows where they could be next year?

They are built to play with a lead. Teams that can run the ball and slow their offense down at the beginning of games will have success.
I think the demise of the Colts has been exaggerated in the media this week though.
Personally, I don't think the Bengals have a prayer of winning that game.

Both backup safetys playing as starters may miss Monday, Bethea and Jackson. Which would mean basically off the street guys would be filling in. Monday is going to be hell for the scoreboard guy at the RCA Dome

And after a brutal lost to Buffalo last week the Jets are back in the lime light of the playoff race up 26-7 on the Vikings with 3 minutes left in the 3rd quarter the Jets are right back in the thick of things!

Against the Vikings pass D I wouldn't be all that impressed. About time the Vikings put in Jackson - he should have been the starter a few weeks ago already.

Talk about your trap games, Saints played like they were still hungover from the Dallas party. Only good thing about today is the Saints clinching their first Division title since 2000, which is a huge accomplishment.

Garcia and the Eagles look good to pull the upset. Now my confidence wager of 12 points on Philly doesn't look so bad this week.

Awsome to see Garcia lead the Eagles back.
The Jaguars are too inconsistant to do anything this year, they blow out the Colts one week and then today they turn the ball over way to much and lose to the Titans. Glad to see it happen though, Colts lock up the AFC south because of it

That Chicago and Tampa game was intense. I was shocked when the Bucs came back and tied it up. My boys almost lost that one.... Nearly passed over and died when Gould missed that first field goal.
Great to see Garcia back playing well again. I've always said, if he had some decent players around him, he can still get it done in the NFL. On a side note, have any of you read that story about him and his siblings? It was posted on another board a little while back, really really amazing story about Jeff and some things in his past. I'll try to hunt it down if anyone is interested...
And how about those Titans? Man Vince Young is amazing. Why they thought it was a good idea to start Kerry Collins over him at the beginning of the year is simply beyond me. If they had played Vince, they might not be barely hanging onto a playoff spot, and be right in the thick of things in the AFC. But who knows.

I'd be a bit concered if a Bears fan. Letting Tampa back from 21 points down? In the cold, at home..with a NFL 3 or 4th stringer leading the comeback?
That, and AZ handing them that game, and special teams and defense doing the only scoring last week, they could very well be be 9-5 and in a lot more of a tight race.
They'll get the NFC bye, but they've done some of these games with smoke and mirrors...that luck has a way of running out when it comes to playoff time.

The Broncos control their own destiny.
2 wins and 1 KC loss (probably tonight) and they are in. Both games at home.
Jay Cutler is not only looking comfortable, he's looking pretty damn good.

Devery Henderson's expression in this pic pretty much sums up the Saints' feelings of backing into the division title. Reggie Bush said he doesnt even want the hat. What a rough game to watch today. Are we missing Hollis Thomas yet? We had NO pass rush today...

Well San Diego gets a huge break on that blocked punt when that moron for KC touches the ball and the Chargers get the ball back. Like a true championship team though, they make the most of it and LT goes for 85 and a TD on the next play to completely turn that game.
He's the MVP and the Chargers are your Superbowl Champions.
