Whenever someone mentions Rogan to me in a serious way I always pause like I am trying to recall who he is and then say 'oh you mean the guy who made people eat bugs on tv?'

The worst part is that he seems like a funny, likeable guy. Like, I feel like I'd enjoy having a few drinks with him. But he's weaponized his likeability for greed and he doesn't care who he hurts in doing so, and so I have to hate him.

Rogan plays the part of an empty headed talk show host well. Someone could tell Rogan Canada is infested and terrorized by Cannibalistic Humanoid Underground Dwellers and he'd say "Oh wow that is crazy, yeah I think heard something about that."

There's a few memes around to describe the JRE, I think this one does a pretty good job:

Alberta’s Emergency Health Services (EHS) gave City of Red Deer less than three weeks to decide whether to scrap its integrated fire and ambulance service that has been in place for 60 years.

By the end of March, EHS wants an answer as to whether the city wants to do away with its proven system of having all firefighters trained as paramedics – known as fire-medics – so they can easily swing between both jobs. Instead, ambulance service would be contracted out to an outside company.

The province contends – although it has provided no financial data to back it up – that contracting out would be cheaper than the fire-medic system.

Therefore, if the city insists on keeping its integrated system, it must agree to pay the difference in cost between the two systems – again with no information provided on what that bill might be.
https://reddeeradvocate.com/2026/03/...ervice-future/

What the #### are they even doing up in Edmonton? And what is the name of the ambulance company Sam Mraiche is setting up for this one?

Albertans also typically have to pay for their ambulance call. So will we be direct billed by a private company, or do we still pay AHS? Are there limits on ambulance fees these private companies can charge? Will you have to consent to each charge at the time, or give them a blank "yes" to everything? Will a tip prompt pop up?

Isn’t Rogan normally stoned out of his gourd while doing the podcast? Can’t begin to understand how anyone finds him interesting.

https://calgaryherald.com/opinion/co...pending-report

Alberta auditor general Doug Wylie said he ran out of time before writing a health procurement report.

“However, I am pleased that our document review and interviews will be completed and findings determined before my term ends.

The last words are crucial. Wylie is saying the conclusions will be ready for the next auditor general. By implication, any effort to tamper with them would be risky.

Yes, if I am terminal I will tough it out. As will 95% of people. That's not a flex, that's just how its always been. I'm sure 95% of people have personal experience with that. I know three people that have done MAID, none of them were terminal in 12 months.

ALS/MS/some weird brain eating amoeba/pretty much anything degenerative. Shoot me in the head right now.

So rather than provide a better solution, just let 'em suffer because you're content to do it and that's how it has always been.

You know how indefensibly stupid that is, right? Can you think about someone who isn't you for like half a second?

I want to be able to kill myself if I am disabled... do you actually think I am against terminal people killing themselves. Like how would that even make sense.

#### set up suicide booths or allow teenage angst to qualify for MAID. I'm not going to protest it.

If I have 12 months to live, either I'm killing myself or riding it out and spending the time how I want. What legislation says doesn't really matter, a good doctor with a prescription pad is more important. My concern is that I am incapable of making such a decision and I get stuck in pain for a decade or turn into a vegtable.

I listened to half a Joe Rogan episode once, on someone's recommendation, and honestly since then weather on not someone recommends hos podcast to me is where I set my base line for them being a moron.

It did not take me long to find out that he was a credulous idiot who thinks getting anecdotes from people smarter than him makes him knowledgeable, and that you'd pretty much have to be the same to find any value in the information presented on his show, even if the guest is trying to provide good information occasionally.

I watched Polievre on Rogan, not because I like Rogan or Polievre, but because the Leader of the Opposition going down to the US *now* and doing a 2.5 hour podcast appearance on one of the most watched podcasts in the US is not some accident. There's clearly some angle or strategy here, so I watched to try and figure out what exactly that was.

Polievre certainly seemed more polished than usual - crisp black suit, pin, skinny tie. He acted and spoke a lot more "Prime Ministerial" than I've seen him at any point in the past. This is clearly some effort to rebrand or reposition himself as a legitimate alternative option to Carney.

A lot of Trump's supporters and circle watch Joe Rogan, so I expect that was the intended audience here. Time will tell what the long term strategy is and what the play was here by Pierre going on Rogan, but I expect its some strategic positioning for something down the road.

An estimated 10 per cent of Canadians listen to Rogan (it's by far the most popular podcast in Canada). And if look at the demographics, most of Poilievre's supporters and voters he's trying to appeal to follow Rogan. No need to assume U.S.-based motivation for Poilievre's appearance when the show has that kind of reach in Canada.

This thinking really only makes sense if you think Poilievre and the CPC’s problem is that they’ve been struggling to get the support of Joe Rogan listeners.

The people that listen to Joe Rogan are already voting for PP.

EDIT: Roughneck already said it.

Well, on a positive note at least he shut down the AN separation talk, which would probably get heard by that particular AB demographic. Smith should be as clear on her stance.

A super duper easy win for Pierre would be tell Danielle to "knock that #### off" with the separation talk as well.

Would he ever do it?

Yeah, the Venn diagram of Canadian Joe Rogan listeners and Canadians who vote for federal Conservatives is basically a circle. If only he'd have tried to act a little more like 'Prime Minister material' when it counted, he may not have lost his own riding.
